The Place d’Iéna of Paris, part II !!!

I have written before on many things in Paris and sometimes I found me new things not yet in my blog that should be, This is the case lately of finding me pictures in my cd rom vaults that should be in my blog for you and me,  Paris is a huge part of it. I have written on many streets of Paris ; this is another nice one to walk over it at least once in your lifetime, Therefore, here is my take on the Place d’Iéna of Paris, part II !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Place d’Iéna is located in the 16éme arrondissement of Paris ; and at the intersection of the avenues of Jena and the President-Wilson and at the outlet of avenue Pierre-ier-de-Serbie and the rue Boissière and rue Longchamp. The square was created in 1858 and took its current name in 1878.

The Place d’Iéna is served by the Iéna metro station on line 9. There is also a nice parking lot I used at the Trocadéro – Jena parking lot at 11 rue de Magdebourg. (see pic), The metro Iéna is a station located under Place d’Iéna, along Avenue du Président-Wilson. Oriented roughly east-west, it is located between Trocadéro and Alma-Marceau metro stations. The station is served by bus lines 32, 63, and 82 of the RATP network. The station opened on May 27, 1923, with the commissioning of the section between Trocadéro and Saint-Augustin of line 9. It owes its name to its location under Place d’Iéna, at the intersection of the eponymous avenue, these two roads commemorating the victory of Napoleon I’s French army over the Prussians, commanded by General von Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen, on October 14 in 1806, during the Battle of Jena. The station is also, along with Rome on line 2, Cité on line 4, and the ghost station Haxo between lines 3 bis and 7 bis, one of four in the network whose name has only four letters.

The station has three entrances consisting of fixed staircases, which have an original balustrade, matching the gates of the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts located north of Place d’Iéna, The entrance or accés 1 “Avenue du Président-Wilson – Museum of Modern Art; “Palais de Tokyo”, decorated with a Dervaux candelabra, opening to the Place d’Iéna, on the odd-numbered sidewalks of the latter and Avenue du Président-Wilson; entance or accès 2 « Rue Boissière – Musée Guimet », decorated with a Val d’Osne totem, being one of the few in the Paris Metro to be slightly curved due to its location, adjacent to the museum; and the entrance or accés 3 “Avenue d’Iéna – Palais d’Iéna”, also equipped with a Dervaux-type mast, is located opposite n0, 7 Avenue d’Iéna. Iéna is a standard-configuration station: it has two platforms separated by the metro tracks and an elliptical vault. The decoration is in the style used for the majority of metro stations: the lighting strips are white and rounded in the “Gaudin” style of the “Metro Renewal” of the 2000s, and beveled white ceramic tiles cover the jambs, vault, and tympanums.
