After passing by it and briefly stopping there we came upon a nice castleIt was awesome! Therefore, here is my take on this is Ploëzal  !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The village of Ploëzal is located in the Côtes-d’Armor department, 22 in my lovely region of Bretagne, and in my belle France. It is located 23 km from Lannion, 70 km from Morlaix, 488 km from Versailles and 123 km km from my current home,I came from my current home up the D768 road dir Pontivy past it take left on the D764 and right on the D767 dir Guerlédan, continue same road dir Guingamp, get around this town on the D712 and bear left into the D8 road and continue to Ploëzal.

The Château de la Roche-Jagu is a fortified house that was built in the 15C and restored in 1968. The castle is currently managed by the Departmental Council of Côtes-d’Armor, owner of the castle since 1958, following the bequest of Viscount Gaëtan d’Ales to the State, and becomes the Domaine départemental de la Roche-Jagu. Visits, temporary exhibitions, shows and concerts are organized there. Its gardens are freely accessible, guided tours and “nature” workshops are also organized there. These contemporary gardens of medieval inspiration.

The oldest part of the Château de la Roche-Jagu was built at the end of the Middle Ages and the facade on the river ensured defense by its patrol path. The dwelling consists of a single deep building whose entrance is through a door surmounted by a niche. The first floor still has its mullioned windows but the second floor set back and the roof have been extensively remodeled. There is a wooden gallery or corbelled passageway, intended to serve, without crossing them, the rooms on the second floor arranged in a row, has left many traces on the building. The kitchen is the only room preserved in good condition. Upstairs, the room has on the drip wall, a large fireplace from the beginning of the 15C with jambs with small columns, The 64 ha park has a promontory that offers a view of the Trieux estuary. A forest area, medieval-inspired gardens (vegetable garden, medicinal plant garden, flower garden, etc.), a collection of 350 varieties of camellias make up the bulk of the layout completed by various ornamental plants.

Some other things to see here are the manoir de Kermarker, it exist since 1280 and rebuilt in 1597, and the Church Saint-Pierre

A bit of history as all is related to the castle, The first documents mentioning
Ploëzal date back to 1294, when Richard de la Roche Jagu acknowledged owing half a knight to the army of the Duchy of Brittany. The town became a parish in 1330, for the canonization of Saint Yves. Ploëzal became a town in 1790 at the French revolution.
