The town of Beynes is in the Yvelines department 78 , in the Île-de-France region of my belle France. The town extends into the Mauldre valley, and is 25 km from Versailles, 25 km from Mantes-la-Jolie, 29 km from Rambouillet, 71 km from Chartres, with closer towns already mentioned in my blog as Montainville, Créspieres, and Vicq, The town is 463 km from my current home, Again found me several pictures in my cd rom vaults that should be in my blog for you and me, Therefore, this is my take on this is Beynes !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
Another of my memorable times while living in Versailles was coming to these quant towns off the beaten path such as Beynes. Went by it on the D191 many times on my way south to France and Spain to avoid tolls ! The main road access is by D191, which crosses the town and can link up with the A10 south. The northbound direction leads to Épône, on the old N13, and the A13 autoroute de Normandie. The southbound direction leads to Beynes, then to N12, and beyond, to Rambouillet.
The lavoir Grand Moulin or wash house on Avenue de la Gare is the only one of the three wash houses in the town still standing, Located on the bed of the Mauldre River, In the town of Beynes there were three communal wash houses, installed on the banks of the Mauldre: the Pont de l’Estandard, the Pont Barat, and the one that is shown here, the Grand Moulin wash house. This one is still there, while the other two have disappeared , The Grand Moulin wash house, was restored in 2022.

The Gare de Beynes train station is located at 16 Avenue de la Gare (never use it) It is on the Plaisir – Grignon to Épône – Mézières line sitting in between the Plaisir – Grignon and Mareil-sur-Mauldre stations. It was opened on August 30, 1900. This SNCF station has a passenger building with a ticket office, Transilien ATM and the real-time train information system. It is equipped with two side platforms: platform 1 has a useful length of 250 meters for platform 1 and platform 2 has a useful length of 200 meters. Platforms are changed via an underground passage.

A bit of history tell us that the territory of Beynes was attached to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris from the 8C. In the 12C, from 1181, Beynes became the lordship of the House of Montfort. In the 14C, Robert VII d’Estouteville had a fortified castle built, and the town participated in the defense of Paris against the English. In 1536, the lordship of Beynes was given to Diane de Poitiers by King Henry II.
