This is 2026, Happy New Year to all my readers and friends. Just want to write about this celebration in my post as a thank you to all for following my humble blog and wishing you the best for 2026 to you and yours. Mine for the last 23 years have been held in the Paris/Versailles region, and now Pluvigner in the Morbihan breton. Once again this year, Paris will light up the evening of December 31st: the Arc de Triomphe will be transformed into a giant screen for a monumental projection mapping show, before the traditional fireworks display. At 23h50 or 11:50 pm, the mapping will be projected onto the Arc de Triomphe, accompanied by a musical composition by Ena Eno and André Manoukian. The show will highlight Paris as a city of arts and ideas: a city of workshops, a city of stages, a city of books.
One segment will pay tribute to the 70th anniversary of the twinning between Paris and Rome, to be celebrated in 2026. Sports will also be featured, with a few nods to the historic year just achieved by PSG in football/soccer. Then will come the eagerly awaited countdown to the New Year! At midnight, the fireworks display will begin with a pure white flash, followed by a cascade of gold, silver, and blue lights, illuminating the façade of the Arc de Triomphe. The all-female playlist will highlight current hits, with a nod to Italy. The show will end with John Lennon’s Imagine, to begin the year in a spirit of peace, hope, and brotherhood.
