Hope you enjoy the post as I
The town of Coigniéres is located 16 km from Montfort-l’Amaury,38 km from Paris , 21 km from Versailles, and 445 km from my current town. It is adjacent to Maurepas in the north, Mesnil-Saint-Denis and Lévis-Saint-Nom in the east, Essarts-le-Roi in the south and Saint-Rémy-l’Honoré in the west. It is traverse by the N10 road which can be reach from Versailles and goes to Rambouillet, Coignières is one of the 12 towns of the new agglo metro area of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.(see post). I came here by the N12 dir Dreux, Rambouillet and got off by Trappes panel Bois d’Arcy on industrial park of Elancourt to the D58 to connect with the N10 dir Rambouillet to Coigniéres.
The Church Saint-Germain-d’Auxerre in Romanesque style dating from the 13C with the bell tower rebuilt in the 19C and renovated in 2009. Until the French revolution, the church belonged to the diocese of Chartres and currently to the diocese of Versailles. In 1868, the bell tower covered with a pyramidal roof was built on the west facade, pierced on all four sides by coupled semicircular arches. The facade is divided vertically and horizontally into three levels. The nave is from the 13C. The choir was built in the 16C. The Chapelle Saint-Germain-d’Auxerre, covered with a star vault with keystones, was also built at this time. In the choir is a stained-glass window from the first half of the 16C. It depicts scenes from the story of Susanna and the Elders. Susanna, accused of adultery and condemned to death, is saved by the prophet Daniel. Much of the liturgical furniture comes from the Hautes-Bruyères monastery in Saint-Rémy-l’Honoré, which was dissolved during the French revolution. The oil painting of the Seven Sorrows of Mary with scenes from the life of Jesus and the Passion, painted on wood, dates from the last quarter of the 16C. The stone sculpture of Saint Germain d’Auxerre dates from the 16C.

The town has a gare or train station on the line of Paris-Montparnasse – Brest, whose route is parallel to the N 10, and which is served by the trains of line N of the Transilien train Paris-Rambouillet. It was put into service in 1902, therefore after the opening of the section between Versailles-Chantiers and Chartres on July 12, 1849. SNCF station, it has a passenger building with ticket office, Transilien ATM, real-time train information system, vigilance strips on the platforms and magnetic loops for the hearing impaired. It is equipped with two offset side platforms: platform 1 has a useful length of 230 meters for platform 2 and platform 2 has a useful length of 230 meters for platform 1. Platforms are changed via an underground passage.

The City/town hall at Place de l’Église-Saint-Germain-d’Auxerre opened its doors to the public on June 28, 2013. The new building stands out architecturally. The aim was to rehabilitate and expand the old city hall, which dated from the 19C. As of June 2021 the town had a population of 4 377 inhabitants.
