As nostalgia sets in figure its about time tell you on the roads and streets of Meaux, I have come in and out of here since 1990. I drove there each time, with only the initial bus ride from CDG airport and a ride to the Gare de l’Est train station to see my dear late wife Martine work office, Of course, Meaux is in the Seine et Marne dept 77of the Île de France region of my belle France. It is always a memorable trip of many nice good times of family visits that will be with me forever. Therefore, here is my take on getting in and out of Meaux !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
My driving there since 2011 from the Morbihan dept 56 ,region of Bretagne,has been on the N165 dir Vannes to the N166 dir Ploémel and the N24 to Rennes, but most of the time lately been up on the D768 from home to the N24 dir Rennes, once there take the rocade Sud or N136 to connect with the N157 dir Le Mans ,this road leads you into the A81 autoroute L’Armoricaine toll road dir Laval, continue to Le Mans where it connects with the A11 Autoroute L’Océane dir Paris but always take a rest stop for us and our dog Rex at the
Aire la ferté Bernard services, We continue on the A11 dir Paris passing first by Chartres,and continue to connect with the A10 autoroute L’Aquitaine but getting off at the N104 La Francilienne exterior rocade of Paris dir A4 Metz-Nancy, this connects with the A104 also La Francilienne exterior rocade dir A4 Metz-Nancy-Reims continue on the A4 autoroute de l’Est dir Disneyland Paris continue past exit 14 parcs Disney towards Meaux bear right onto the A140 dir Meaux get off at exit/sortie 2 to get on the D360 road dir Meaux Centre;you have a beautiful view of the Cathedral St Etienne (St Stephens ) ahead, bear right onto rue Madame Dassy with the Church Notre Dame du Marché on your right hand side bear left onto Quai Sadi Carnot with the Marne river on your right hand side continue bear right to cross the Pont Neuf over the Marne river ,and continue on Rue Aristide Briand bear slighly left to continue on Avenue du Maréchal Joffre ,shortly left onto Avenue de la République ,and quick tight left onto 36 Rue Noefort (a one way street)
As you should, once find parking easy on street for free walk out to your right and turn right on rue du Faubourg Saint Nicolas straight into the old town which becomes Rue du Général Leclerc see on your right the Place Henri IV, and the cinema Majestic left here onto Cours Raoult takes you to the Marne river banks,if cross the Pont du Marché you reach the Saturday market hall ; but if keep walking straignt onto rue Saint Etienne and then Place Saint Etienne and the Cathedral, episcopal palace, vieux chapitre, Bossuet museum , jardin Bossuet, and Maison du Brie de Meaux all there ! Turn left onto Rue de Martimprey you reach the hôtel de ville City hall or continue straight as above onto Rue Saint Rémy the pedestrian shopping street ,at the end of this street turn left onto Cr de l’Arquebuse that take you to the Gare de Meaux train station,
You can go back the same way it will cost you 34,70 Euros in tolls you can save 2,40€ by continue from Meaux on from rue Aristide Briand bearing rigtht onto Avenue du Président Salvador Allende onto Quai Jacques Prévert ,this continues as Quai Victor Hugo all along the Marne river on your left hand side, turn right onto Place Lafayette with a quick left onto Cr Verdun bear right onto Avenue Jean Bureau under the railroad tracks bearing left onto Avenue Galliani bearing right onto Rue de la Chausée de Paris which straight ahead becomes the D6303 (old N3) road dir Claye Souilly where bearing right to get onto the A104 La Francilienne on next trafic circle on the D84 Mitry make U turn to get back the other way on the A104 dir Lagny sur Marne ,Torcy, Collégien to connect with the A4 Autoroute de l’Est dir Paris and get off at the N104 La Francilienne rocade dir A10 autoroute L’Aquitaine dir Bordeaux/Nantes continue on the A10 to connect with the A11 autoroute L’Océane dir Rennes ,with again a rest stop at Aire de Villaine La Gonais connecting with the A81 autoroute L’Armoricaine passing Chartres and Le Mans continue dir Rennes passing Laval connecting with the N157 dir Rennes to the rocade de Rennes or N136 to connect with the N24 dir Lorient continue past Josselin and get off at exit/Sortie D767 road Locminé bearing right onto the D115 road quick dir Colpo but take it dir Pluvigner and connect bearing left onto the D16 dir Pluvigner and home !
As a side trip we went back and forth to Disneyland Paris and our lodging for the last several years the Davy Crockett Ranch in Bailly Romainvilliers along the A4 exit/sortie 14 and the D344 and D406 roads,passing some memorable towns as well ,see post,
