Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Hôtel de Sully is a mansion between Louis XIII style courtyard and garden, located in the Marais neighborhood, in the 4éme arrondissement of Paris, at 62 rue Saint-Antoine. It has been the seat since 1967 of the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (center of national monuments of France). You can also access it by a discreet entrance in the Place des Vosges.

Built in 1625-1630, this building is still turned towards the past, subservient that it is in the traditions of the Renaissance by the ornamental profusion, the silhouette of the pavilions, the place and the type of the staircase. Characteristic of the Parisian mansions of the first half of the 17C, it was one of the most accomplished residences in the Marais, In 1660, the second Duke of Sully acquired the hotel and made it enlarge by adding an additional wing to West of the Logis, in the gardens, After the French revolution, the hotel passes into the hands of traders.

From 1819 to 1838, it was the campus of students of the Special Trade and Industry School (now renowned ESCP Business School). The Jewerler Louis-François Radu and his wife rented most of the Hôtel de Sully and his garden. The Radu heirs had a school for girls installed there in 1856 and the two sphinges in the courtyard in the 19C, like other mansions in the Marais, the building is divided into apartments and shops, the terrace overcoming the portal being filled by a construction binding the two entrance pavilions. The hotel was bought in the early 1920s by the Countess Martine de Béhague, then the French State acquired the hotel in May 1944 to its heirs to make it the French house museum a deep catering campaign, started in 1945 and prolonged until 1974, re -established this terrace, reuniting the hotel and its orangery, divided into two plots during the 19C, and restoring the hotel with a configuration close to that of its initial construction, despite new modifications to the Orangerie for functional reasons from 1994 to 2010, the Hôtel de Sully hosted photography exhibitions on behalf of the mission of the photographic heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Communication (1994-2000), which has become a heritage photographic association (2000-2004) and merged with the National Gallery of the Jeu de Paume, and the National Center for Photography (2004-2010).
