The Promenade Pereire of Paris !!!

I am again to tell you about a particular area of my eternal Paris that brings lots of memorable moments. I have many many posts on Paris and several on the streets of the most beautiful city in the world. I have come up with pictures from cd rom vault that should be here for you and me.  As always thank you for following my blog some since November 26, 2010. Therefore, here is my take on the Promenade Pereire of Paris !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

On the 17éme arrondissement or district of Paris along the Boulevard Péreire you have the Promenade Pereire a gorgeous area for wonderful walks,  I literally walked on these streets and gardens to reach the Porte Maillot as walking is great and in Paris  sublime!  Also, an area where I have stayed many times in hotels during my business runs from the Morbihan breton,

This promenade Pereire leads from Place du Maréchal Juin to Porte Maillot. Seven sections follow one another, forming spaces that are sometimes enclosed, sometimes open, dotted with works by Boris Lejeune, a French sculptor, poet, and painter born in Kyiv (Ukraine) in 1947, adorned with flowers and trees, in a harmonious landscape style. A variety of activities are available to walkers and strollers, as well as athletes and young Parisians, and visitors.

Shaded lawns, fruit bushes, perennial beds, and pergolas covered with fragrant plants enliven this green space located in the center of the boulevard, named after the brothers Émile-Jacob Pereire ,and Isaac Pereire. They initiated and financed the construction of the 8 km long Auteuil rail line, operated from 1854 to 1985, partly integrated in 1867, into the Petite Ceinture. The channeling of this railway line avoids level crossings on the boulevard opened at the same time. The Northeast branch of the RER C which opened in 1988 is here covered by this green promenade.

The seven sections are thus composed ,between Porte Maillot and Avenue des Ternes with two works by Boris Lejeune Les vignes or the Vines and Les champs or the fields (1990). Between Avenue des Ternes and Rue Guersant. Between Rue Guersant and Rue Lebon – where we find another sculpture by Boris Lejeune La rivière or the river (1989). Between rue Lebon and rue Bayen; Promenade Thérèse Pierre, between rue Bayen and rue Laugier , this part is cut in two by a covered passage , and there is another work by Boris Lejeune, Les arbres or the trees (1988). Promenade Rosemonde Pujol, between rue Laugier and rue Rennequin and Promenade Gilberte Brossolette, between rue Rennequin and place du Maréchal Juin with La mer or the sea (1989) by Boris Lejeune.

Take advantage of this post to tell you again on the wonderful Bd Pereire as said is in the 17éme arrondissement of Paris. The boulevard is formed by two tree-lined lanes, located on either side of the Auteuil line and whose boundaries are on the odd numbers side:the departure from Rue de Jouffroy-d’Abbans and arrivals on avenue de la Grande-Armée; on the even numbers side: depart from part of the rue de Saussure  and arrive on the boulevard Gouvion-Saint-Cyr. The length of the boulevard Pereire is of 2,540 meters and its width ranges from 17 to 44 meters rounded. The boulevard Pereire crosses the Place du Maréchal-Juin , and the Place de Wagram. The boulevard takes its name from Émile Pereire, dealer of the Auteuil rail line. The Boulevard Pereire north and south was developed from 1852 to 1854 in connection with the construction of the Auteuil rail line, at the junction of the line from Paris to Saint-Germain-en-Laye  by a company founded by the Pereire brothers, on the territory of the towns of Batignolles-Monceaux and Neuilly between the wall of the General Farmers and the Thiers precinct, which was not annexed to the City of Paris in 1860. In the 1860s and 1880s, villas or mansions were built along the boulevard Peréire, and from the 1870s, Haussmann-style buildings were built. Some famous names that had lived on this bd Pereire according to many sources are  at No 19 : lived Maurice Ravel from 1901 to 1905. No 56 the actrice Sarah Bernhardt died here on March 26 1923. No 173 , the painter Pierre-Gaston Rigaud lived from 1913 to 1939,later his son  Jean Rigaud, from the 1950’s to 1999.
