Let me bring you all back to my old stumping ground in my beloved Yvelines dept 78 of the Île de France region of my belle France,This is Royal and Saintly Poissy. This is a rework older post with new text and links for you and me, Therefore, here is my take on the Parc Meissonier of Poissy !! Hope you enjoy it as I.
The Parc Meissonier since its acquisition by the City of Poissy in 1952, it has been a landscaped municipal park, frequented in all seasons by the inhabitants of Poissy and the surrounding area, children and adults alike, who all appreciate its charm and originality. This ten-hectare English-style park with its pond, former nuns’ fishpond, rose garden, and dozens of plant species represents one of the green lungs of the city. The park is named after the painter Ernest Meissonier ,mayor of the City in 1878 ,who lived for several years in the Abbey enclosure, but never owned it, and whose statue was inaugurated on November 15, 1980 coming from the Louvre reserves. Some trees in Parc Meissonier are several hundred years old: a cedar of Lebanon, two magnificent beeches that thrive halfway up the slope, the plane trees that are reflected in the pond. Visitors can also admire more exotic species: sweet gum, Japanese soapberry, Virginia tulip tree, catalpa and paulownia, sequoia, Himalayan cedar etc, A wonderful park indeed.

It is a landscaped garden with a large pond, many remarkable trees and a rose garden. It is close to the city center, runs along the avenue du Bon Roi Saint-Louis in the north, which gives the main entrance, (and also along the Seine river) and extends south to the avenue Blanche de Castille. Towards the city center it adjoins the Abbey enclosure and on the opposite side to the west, it adjoins the Parc Villard and the Château de Villiers (see post). This garden is the former domain of the former Dominican Abbey which disappeared following the French revolution. The oldest tree is a cedar from Lebanon, the plantation of which is estimated in 1740!
