The RER E train line of Paris !!

So, written plenty on the airports, train stations, metro stations and the favorite bus lines as well as lately tramways of Paris. However, missing one that have rident as well , the RER E Paris. Therefore, here is my rendition to this unique different train line as found me an older picture in my cd rom vault and should be in my blog for you and me Therefore, here is my take on the RER E train line of Paris !! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The Île-de-France regional express network, commonly called “RER” is a rail-gauge public transport network serving Paris and its agglomeration , For historical reasons, part of the network is managed by RATP while the rest is part of the Transilien (SNCF) network. It has five lines RER A, B, C, D , and E. I have used RER E at Neuilly-Porte Maillot, Haussmann-Saint Lazare stations.

RER Line E has five regular terminals since December 15, 2024, these are Nanterre-la Folie, Magenta ,Chelles – Gournay, Villiers-sur-Marne – Le Plessis-Trévise, and Tournan, The RER E is and will be in correspondence with several other transport lines (metro, RER, tram, transilian and TER-TGV). The metro lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13 and 14 are directly or indirectly accessible to the stations of Rosny-Bois-Perrier, Haussmann-Saint-Lazare, Magenta, Neuilly – Porte Maillot and La Défense. Regarding the RER lines, it meets them in La Défense, at the Auber -Haussmann Pole and Val de Fontenay (line A), at the Magenta – Gare du Nord Station (B and D lines), and in Neuilly – Porte Maillot (Line C). The tram is available at the stations of Noisy-le-Sec (line 1), la Défense (line 2), Neuilly-Porte Maillot, Rosa Parks, Pantin (line 3B) and Bondy (line 4). The RER E is in correspondence with the H and K lines of the Transilien at the Gare du Nord (via Magenta), the J line in Saint-Lazare, the L line in Saint-Lazare and La Défense, the P line at the stations of the Gare de l’East, from Chelles – Gournay and Tournan, and the U in La Défense line. At the end of the extension to Mantes-la-Jolie, it will also be in correspondence with line A in Houilles-Carrières-sur-Seine and Poissy, the J in Mantes-la-Jolie line, the L line in Houilles-Carrières, and Line N in Épône-Mézières and Mantes-la-Jolie. Finally, the TER and TGV lines are accessible in the three large Parisian stations served by the RER E.

Its extension to the west was effective since May 6, 2024 to Nanterre -La Folie, serving in passing the new stations of Neuilly – Porte Maillot – Palais des Congrès and de la Défense – Grande Arche with a reduced service in shuttles until ‘In Magenta, only in off -peak hours of the week and the weekend. The full service with the extension of all missions to Nanterre-La Folie, is effective since December 15, 2024. The full extension to Mantes-la-Jolie is planned in stages between early 2027 and end of 2029, The extension of the Chelles branch in Meaux is expected to enter into service after 2030.

A bit of history I like tell us that linking the eastern suburbs to gare Saint-Lazare train station (see post), the RER E line is the most recent in the network, The Éole project (for Est-Ouest-Liaison Express/ east west express connection) was started in 1993. The depth of the line is particularly important given the size of the Parisian soil, between 25 and 45 meters below the surface; it is authorized at 60 km / h. On July 14, 1999 the new RER E line is put into service between the new Parisian underground station of Haussmann – Saint-Lazare and the station of Chelles – Gournay, located in the eastern suburbs of Paris, via among others, the new Parisian station of Magenta, also underground, On August 30, 1999, the line reached the station of Villiers-sur-Marne – Le Plessis -Treviso, following the commissioning of the second branch of the line from Noisy-le-Sec. On December 14, 2003, the line was extended from Villiers-sur-Marne – Le Plessis-Trévise to Tournan. A new station on the RER E was put into service on December 13, 2015, between Magenta and Pantin stations, in the 19éme arrondissement of Paris, at the corner of rue de Crimée and rue Gaston-Tessier, the Rosa-Parks station formerly called Evangile. It serves the Porte d’Aubervilliers district, replacing the station initially planned at La Villette – Aubervilliers, the station, which is located three minutes from Magenta and seven minutes from Haussmann – Saint-Lazare. It is the only one of the five not to cross Paris right through.
