This is Vincennes !!!

We have driven in the area and would like to have an imprint in my blog on the wonderful Vincennes! Which brings lots of memories of our forays into this part of France, long gone need to be back, eventually, The pictures are old and on paper so the quality may not as good but the memories are forever, Therefore, here is my take on this is Vincennes !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I. The City of Vincennes is located in the Val-de-Marne dept no 94 in the Île-de-France region of my belle France, It borrowed its name in the Bois de Vincennes located south of the city, which has become owned by the city hall of Paris. Famous for its castle, you have to the north, Montreuil and in the south, the Bois de Vincennes, under administration of the 12éme arrondissement of Paris. It is about 7 km from the Île de la Cité in Paris, Coming from Paris, we enter the city by the avenue de Paris which connects the city center to the Porte de Vincennes;and coming from the east on the A4 , it is entered by this same avenue after having crossed the forest of Vincennes you come into the avenue de Nogent. The City is 64 km from Fontainebleau, 55 km from Maincy (Vaux le Vicomte) ,36 km from Disneyland Paris, 37 km from Versailles, and 477 km from my current house. The Château de Vincennes is a fortress whose construction lasted from the 14C to the 17C. It is the largest Royal fort castle subsisting in France and, due to the height of its dungeon, one of the highest fortresses in plain of Europe. The castle occupies most of a quadrilateral delimited by: the rue de Paris to the north, that is to say the road leading from Paris (Place de la Nation) to Vincennes and Nogent-sur-Marne; The cours des Maréchaux to the east, which separates the castle from the fortress; the Esplanade de Saint-Louis to the south, or esplanade de le Château de Vincennes, which separates the castle from the Bois de Vincennes ; Avenue Carnot to the west. From the Esplanade de Saint-Louis leave two ways: Avenue Daumesnil, which crosses the Bois de Vincennes to the west, leading to the Porte Dorée; The Route de la Pyramide, which crosses the Bois de Vincennes to the east, notably along the Parc Floral to the surroundings of Joinville and Saint-Maur. This fortress has the appearance of a large fortified city or a fortified royal residence than a fortified castle. It has a 52-meter-high dungeon above the courtyard The Château de Vincennes is both the site of the Ministry of Culture, the Departmental Service of Architecture and Heritage, and the Ministry of Defense, the castle houses the historic defense service, SHD. Vincennes donjon of castle c2009 The Sainte-Chapelle started from 1379 had the relics of the crown of thorns kept in Vincennes having been transferred to the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, the works of construction of a new chapel, entrusted to Raymond du Temple, begin in 1379. It is 20 meters high, 40 meters in length and 12 meters in width.  From Louis XIII at least, it served as a baptismal font during the baptisms of the children of France. The royal baptistery was transferred to the Louvre museum after the French revolution in 1793. Within its walls is buried Louis Antoine de Bourbon-Condé, Duke of Enghien , prince of French blood, executed in the ditches of the Château de Vincennes. He is the 10th and last Duke of Enghien, and the ultimate descendant of the Maison Condé’s house. Vincennes Sainte Chapelle of castle c2009 Other things to see here me thing are : The Hôtel de Ville illustrates both the neo-Renaissance style inspired by the model that constituted the city hall of Paris at the start of the Third Republic, and the Art Deco style, remarkable by the monumental staircase and the dome in glass 12.20 meters in diameter and 30 tons, The Saint-Louis Church designed in 1912 original architecture of neo-byzantine style, characteristic of the renewal of sacred art in the first half of the 20C. Its interior sets are the fruit of the talent of the artists of the sacred art workshops: frescoes of Henri Marret and Maurice Denis, a set of ceramics from Maurice Dhomme, sculptures by Carlo Sarrabezolles and art ironwork of Raymond Subes, The Bois de Vincennes included the Parc Floral. The Paris-Vincennes racecourse. The Palais de la Porte Dorée. The Pagoda de Vincennes, Arboretum. The Paris farm. Theater of puppets. And Astral theater. A bit bit of history I like tell us the story of Vincennes is closely linked to the history of its forest and its castle. It really started in the 12C, when Louis VII chose the Vilcena forest as a hunting ground and had a hunting pavilion fitted out. In 1667, Basse-Cour and Pissotte were gathered in the same parish which took the name of La Pissotte. In 1787, an administrative reform installed a community of inhabitants which took the name of the town of Vincennes. During the revolutionary period, Vincennes was allocated 238 hectares including the castle and its garden as well as the petit parc or small park, and part of the forest. The town was part of the Seine department. The reorganization of the Paris region in 1964 made that the city belongs to the department of Val-de-Marne no 94.
