In my dear gorgeous Versailles ; there are many places other than the castle. The city needs to be seen more, my kind of town, actually did lived there for 9+ glorious years! Very nice family memories. I found me older paper pictures that again should be in my blog, Therefore, here is my take again on the Petit Trianon of Versailles, part II !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
The Petit Trianon was built for Madame de Pompadour who died before seeing it finished,it was inaugurated by Madame du Barry in 1768, almost twenty years after the first arrangements of the new king’s garden.

The Petit Trianon has on the ground floor (1st US), which is called the underground in the 18C is accessed by the vestibule opening by two doors on a modest porch of the entrance courtyard, south of the castle. From the vestibule, you can access the castle’s staircase of honor, turning two straight flights, built in limestone of Saint-Leu and adorned with a ramp in gilded bronze and forged iron. Located in retreat under the flights of the staircase, a door gives access to the warming room covered with a low vault. On the half-step of the staircase at the seventh step, another small door, on the left, allows to join the old Chinese gallery of the ring game by a long corridor created in 1781, the most important transformation brought by Marie-Antoinette to the Petit Trianon, and located under the terrace facing the French garden.
The Queen’s boudoir is originally intended to allow the passage between the ground floor and the king’s private apartments located in the mezzanine or attic, There is a large sofa in green towers as well as a table embedded by Riesener. Coffee was fashionable at the Versailles court; The King himself roasted the few beans harvested in his experimental garden in Trianon and prepares in person his favorite drink that he shares with his family, contemplating the greenhouses of his botanical garden. In 1776, Marie-Antoinette transformed the place into a boudoir , An ingenious mechanism allowed to close by large mirrors rising from the floor the two windows of this room, which is directly accessible from the Perron overlooking the florist garden of Louis XV, future Anglo-Chinese garden. This boudoir is therefore called the cabinet des glaces mouvantes, in which the queen comes to seek intimacy and discretion, but from which she can also come out easily by the steps to access the gardens, independently. In 1787, Marie-Antoinette asked her architect to redraw the decoration of this room, carry out lambris richly opened in an arabesque style: the sculptures stand out in white on a background of blue, showing the new taste of France for Anglo-mania. There is the important part left to flowers, in the inspiration of the surrounding gardens. The furniture was dispersed during the French revolution, but during the restoration of the castle in the 2000s, comparable original furniture, coming from the Count of Provence pavilion located near the pièce d’eau des Suisses (see post) are installed.

Scheduled in 1767, the chapel at 2 level, according to the Palatine type, was only undertaken in 1772 by Gabriel and was almost completed when Louis XV died in 1774. The high altar was surmounted by two ionic columns supporting a fronton whose glory was sculpted by Joseph Prévot. The painting, work of Vien placed, in 1776, represents St Thibaut offering to St Louis and Marguerite de Provence a lys of eleven branches, emblem of posterity. Faced with the altar is spared a platform which can be accessed by the staircase or directly from the French garden.
