My fav restaurants of Mexico City, part III !!!

I was looking over my older posts since started my blog I notice not enough coverage of my nice eating and resting places over the years , many repeated in beautiful Mexico City (CDMEX). This is a pity , as is a country where i have visited several times over the years and have family there which I have visited too. Therefore, this is a compendium of my nostalgic places of eating and staying there using the old pictures. Therefore, this is my rendition of my fav restaurants of Mexico City, part III !!! I was back and hanging out with old friends still with me after more than 25 years continue my delights in Mexico city, toppled it all with a very nice evening and nice company in Zona Rosa,near the Royal hotel, at the corner of Hamburgo and Niza streets, there is El Lugar del Mariachi, its a restaurant with live music pop and mariachis alternatively, and a dance floor !!! This is right smack in tourist central so a bit high price but very good food, secure,and a very good group of musicians playing from pop to bolero to cha cha cha and then a group of mariachi singers playing their songs as well; a very good ambiance with romantic overtones or in family. Another wonderful dining experience back then and were our customers !!! was Sanborns,a chain very popular in Mexico , Of course, we stop there many times to eat and also to buy essentials electronics. Always had a wonderful time eating ,We went most to the one by Av. P.º de la Reforma 03 Juárez, Cuauhtémoc aka Reforma, 222, Go left side angle categorias to find about all they do, In my early time they were own by the Salinas family, later read were purchase by the Slim family, The

I continue my swing of memorable places and ate at Los Panchos in Condesa, Calle Tolstoi 9, Col. Anzures, real local food and very popular, the place was packed.  I tried all different dishes from tacos de carnitas, chicharrones, stuffed peppers , etc etc so much food down with agua de jamaica and agua de leche delicious. Los Panchos since 1945! At least got the menu carte lol !! The

I was taken to a more rustic restaurant in a working class area , this was the El Paisa, it had a nice second floor terrace, a very nice welcome with lots of Mexicans families there; nice ambiance and great conversation with many. The area is nice around a corner, and serve in the terrace in the back upper level. It is best reach here by car; one of the places to go when you know the area and want to get away from it all. Here we had more goodies of the Mexican cuisine such as the alambre with meat and cheese melted sort like a pizza but chewy and yummy, pacifico beers and coffee expresso, first we had some chicharones and all good. A wonderful culinary delight was at Puerto Lapice, on a business lunch , fantastic filete tampiqueño real beef that was the plate with Mexican wine chateau Domecq. And, I had a great time with friends to see the Mexico vs El Salvador football.soccer match CONCACAF World Cup qualifying won easily by Mexico 3X0 at Hooters Universidad ,another of my old favorites ::) Great Indio beer and nachos snacks with cheese and the action was good with friendly crowd. In another occasion, went to this wonderful steakhouse for lunch at Cambalache, an Argentine jewel small but all kinds of cuts beef that is, at Insurgentes Sur 1384, in Col. Del Valle.  Webpage: http://www.cambalacherestaurantes.com/#insurgentes 

And tried some familiar restaurants from Florida by doing some walking around in CDMEX to meet some old friends at the Olive Garden in the Patio Universidad mall; Av. Popocatépetl 546, Colonia Xoco, Del, Benito Juárez, CDMX, Here had ravioli stuff champignon and a great Trapiche malbec Argentinian wine, coffee nice, great memories! I did my usual trips around the place eating and enjoying the company of friends. I was taken by car to El Bajio, at the Patio Universidad mall Avenida Popocatepetl,546 (Eje 8 Sur), Colonia Xoco Del Benito Suarez CDMEX;another typical local foodie from the Veracruz cuisine. There was a wonderful Tezka basque restaurant that you can communicate from the Royal Hotel Amberes (see post).  From 1994 it grew to when I first met them in 2002 and then 2013 it was rank 75 of the 100 best restaurants of the event  World’s 50 Best Restaurants. No longer there, here again just for the memories of always.

I ate on my culinary search at Konditori, at Calle Genova, in the Zona Rosa, the food was ok and great prices, with even greater company. I had filete tampeño and the food was well done. I finally grabbed my Negra Modelo beer here lol!!! The resto founded in 1953 by Danish immigrants was great but unfortunately it closed. Another wonderful memory forever I was first taken here by a friend from the Santa Fe Mall area,many years ago,

I was,also able to eat out outside the city in the State of Mexico in Ecatepec de Morelos. I stop for lunch at Los Bisquets de Obregon at Plaza Las Américas. Av. 1 de Mayo, Jardines de Morelos, local cuisine restaurant with a great cecina steak (salted and dried by means of air, sun or smoke) with mashed potatoes, mexican rice, and mango/papaya juices. There you go folks, loaded Mexico city is a must as one of the great cities of our world. These places are mentioned elsewhere in my blog but this one has pictures ! My background comes all the way from Candelaria and Pajara in Tenerife, Spain where my grandparents came from ;not knowing each other then, to Punta Brava, west of Havana, Cuba. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
