Many posts should be dedicated to it, it is huge for Paris and should be visited more, The Church Saint-Eustache, is unique, a huge landmark in my eternal Paris.  The church is located in the 1éme arrondissement or district in the heart of the neighborhood or quartier of Halles. The Church Saint Eustache measures 105 meters (344 feet) long, 43.5 meters wide (143 feet) and with a vault soaring 33.5 meters (109 feet) high. The cupola on top of the church reaches a height of about 58 meters (190 feet). It has a nave of five bays and a choir aisle with 24 chapels.

The visitor entering the Church of Saint Eustache is immediately seized by the height of the vaults at 33 meters and the imposing vertical masses that permeate the entire building. The flamboyant gothic is found in the vaults of warheads, embellished with liernes, and ubiquitous pendant keys. The style Renaissances’exprime in the juxtaposition of the ancient orders, the pillars that are flanked by pilasters, the arches in full hanger and, of course, in the abundant decoration on the Capitals.

The Church Saint Eustache has had a number of notable parishioners over the centuries. Louis XIV made his first Communion there; Cardinal Richelieu and Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, the future Madame de Pompadour, were baptized at Saint Eustache; and Mozart chose the church for the funeral of his mother. In addition, Molière was married at this church. Scaramouche and others joined the funeral ceremonies of La Fontaine and Mozart’s mother. Jean Baptiste Colbert was the churchwarden of the Church of Saint-Eustache. His mausoleum is considered to be a major work in 17C statuary. The artist used bronze and white and black marble. Colbert, seized in the attitude of a praying, is clad in his mantle of Commander of the Order of the Holy Spirit. To the left of the sarcophagus, fidelity, chiseled by Coysevox , and to the right, piety or abundance due to Jean-Baptiste Tuby.

The 19C pulpit by Pierre Lepautre depicting the triumph of St Agnes. The preaching pulpit was sculpted by Victor Pyanet on cardboard by Victor Baltard. Its tank is decorated with bas-reliefs in medallions representing the theological virtues (Faith, Hope and Charity).

The  undescribable Chapel of the Calvary or Cruxifiction or Chapelle du Calvaire ou de la Crucifixion ; just awesome impressive, huge to see.

The Chapelle de la Vierge or the Chapel of the Virgin ; when it was created, the chapel of the Virgin resplendent with rich ornamentation in marble, woodwork and paintings. All this was ransacked or stolen during the French Revolution (when else!). The chapel was restored in 1800 and gradually re-enhanced. In its center, there is a magnificent sculpture of the Virgin and Child created by Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. The painter Thomas Couture enriched it with three large frescoes on the theme of the Virgin: “The triumphant Virgin adored by the Angels”; “The Virgin Star of Sailors” and “The Virgin Comforter of the Afflicted”. Just sublime !!!
