The Petit Chambre de l’empereur of the Château de Fontainebleau !!

And here I am back to one of my all time favorite places in my belle France and not just the castle but the town too. As said in many posts not to repeat myself ,the Château de Fontainebleau (see posts) is very special to me. As written many posts on it and the town, let me give some of the spots not mentioned enough me think ,I found me an older picture that should be in my blog and a post on it, Therefore, here is my take on the Petit Chambre de l’empereur of the Château de Fontainebleau !! Hope you enjoy it as I.

This time let me tell you a bit more on the petit chambre de l’Empereuror small bedroom of the Emperor. Oh yes some figures to bring it back to perspective: The Château de Fontainebleau is 20,000 m2 of roofing area, 1,530 rooms, 115 hectares of parkland; 14 hectares for the large flowerbed garden, 1,145 meters in length of the canal, and 16,000 work of arts preserved.

Former study of Louis XVI of which the fireplace, overdoors and woodwork remain, then Emperor Napoleon’s private library, and finally the small bedroom of the Emperor’s apartments where he had installed in 1811 a gilded iron camp daybed. The upholstery of the furniture and decor consists of a set of green silk, red brocade, “Roman-style” draperies in ponceau brocade (poppy red) and gold rewoven and restated from 1984 to 1995. In the center of the room ,a large flat mahogany desk featuring bronze chiselled ornaments and gilding by Jacob designed for Napoleon I was installed. It alternated between work and sleep during the long nights.Next to the bed on the right is a back door leading to the mahogany staircase Napoleon used to directly enter the library in his ‘Petits Appartements’ The ceiling painting, created in 1818 by Jean-Baptiste Regnault, was commissioned by Louis XVIII and depicts an allegory of the Bourbons returning to France: Royal Clemency stopping the course of Justice.

There is even a smaller baby bed where gently envelops the cradle of the King of Rome,(son of Napoléon or II), You can see this baby bed in the room dedicated to him in the Napoléon Museum, (see post) on the first floor of the Louis XV wing of the castle.
