The Spa Thermal village of Eaux-Chaudes !!!

I like to take this picturesque historical town from other posts to create one for it as feel deserves a post of its own, This is wonderful spa thermal town of Eaux Chaudes, passed by it couple times on my way to Spain going through some twisting and each time higher élévations and breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys not to mention a great challenge for the driver ,this road warrior was up to the test, love it ! Therefore ,here is my take on the spa thermal town of Eaux-Chaudes !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The village of Eaux-Chaudes on the road D934 is a village and spa resort in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques dept 64 ,part of the town of Laruns in the Ossau valley ,region of Nouvelle Aquitaine of my belle France. It is at an altitude of 675 meters on average. The village is located on the edge of the Gave d’Ossau, upstream of Laruns, at the entrance to the Hourat gorge. Eaux-Chaudes is separated from the spa resort of Eaux-Bonnes by the Gourzy massif. The village housed the French customs post until the opening of the border with Spain. It has around twenty inhabitants all year round, this figure varying according to the tourist seasons. Its waters (seven springs) are used in the treatment of rheumatic conditions. The town was many times on my way to my dear Spain in my road warrior trails !!!

Eaux Chaudes was already known to the court of Navarre as evidenced by the name Eaux d’Albret which was given to it at that time. Jeanne d’Albret went there several times and imposed, in 1566, the presence of four Protestant pastors responsible for preaching the Reformed religion to bathers; this mission was fulfilled at least until 1620. Until the end of the 16C, the site remains famous, Henri IV, as well as Catherine de Navarre visited it several times.But from the 17C onwards, attendance at Eaux Chaudes decreased and accommodation conditions there deteriorated rapidly. In 1783, reconstruction work was finally carried out. The town recovered the buildings and revenues from the thermal baths in 1823. Major work was then undertaken to modernize the thermal baths and to improve access to the site, the new road on the right bank du Gave d’Ossau was completed in 1849. During the summers of the 1840s, the painter Eugène Devéria made frequent stays at Eaux-Chaudes.

Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
