Dragons and Lanterns, the festival that lights up the Jardin d’Acclimatation More than 2,000 sculptural lanterns, made by more than 200 Chinese artisans, make up a magical spectacle: the Dragons and Lanterns Festival. A dive into the traditional imagination to discover with the family at the Jardin d’Acclimatation until February 25 2024. an unmissable family event, at the Yuyuan garden, one of the most sumptuous of its kind, not far from the Yangtze River. This is also the first time that the Festival has left China. More than 80 days were needed to produce by hand, in the workshop, these real light sculptures, with 50,000 square meters of satin and 21,000 LED bulbs. In a nod to French painting, “we notably used oil paint, and not just Indian ink, to enhance the brightly colored lanterns.” Assembling the sixty scenes and light structures that make up the three hectares of course mobilized the teams for almost a month. I have been saying in my news of this phenomenon that is happening for a long time yet the area seems to be still very popular! There is an investigation into the illegal business of the “flying” painters of Montmartre. On the Place du Tertre 18éme, there are the official artists, holders of a card. And around, the “on the run” painters who paint the portraits of tourists. I and many others spent time there observing these outlaw designers, who fix prices at the customer’s brainwash. Be aware do not buy anything here except in tourist stores,

The former Galeries Lafayette Montparnasse transformed into a temple of entertainment, 22, rue du Départ 15éme, this new cultural venue will host exhibitions until 2025, such as that of LEGO or Tutankhamun, festive events, fashion shows or a monthly roller dancing party About time they did something as it is a nice place to be, my passing for several years on my way to Paris from Brittany !!

Five towns in the largest department of Île-de-France ,Seine et Marne (77) merged in 2016 under the name Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne. Problem: no one thought about duplicate streets. The five towns are Montarlot, Epuisy, Écuelles, Moret-sur-Loing and Veneux-les-Sablons. Dozens of streets have the same name in these different towns. Consequence: a real headache for delivery people, residents, traders… but also for visitors.

If you have to be here luckily not me, be aware of alternative routes to go by during the Paris Summer Olympics 2024, How will we be able to travel in the Yvelines department (78) next summer? After announcing to all the security measures that will be put in place during the Olympic Games, here are details of the various restrictions that will affect the territory between July 26 and August 11 2024. Four perimeters, more or less restrictive, will be deployed around the sports sites, the Park of the Château de Versailles (horse riding and modern pentathlon), the national velodrome (track cycling, BMX), in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, the hill of Élancourt (MTB) and the national golf course in Guyancourt. they may be effective from 6h30 to midnight. The Palace of Versailles will remain open, as will the gardens and the park, during the Games. However, you will have to undergo a check at the entrance to the castle gates before being able to walk or picnic there.

The exhibition “Black & White. An aesthetic of photography” at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BNF) is to return: scheduled for 2020, but canceled due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it was hung at the Grand Palais, in Paris, then taken down without so that the public can see it. Here it is back, repatriated to the BNF, since the Grand Palais is currently under construction. Above all gives the opportunity to revisit the BNF’s photography collections since their beginnings. And to take out of the reserves a number of historical treasures, signed by great authors who are masters of contrast and composition: Gustave Le Gray, Paul Strand, Frank Horvat, Bernard Plossu, Brassaï..etc, In this extensive exhibition, with more than 300 photographs from 206 authors, arranged by theme and not chronologically, the idea of the four curators of the BNF was to show how black and white, this non-choice initially made for technical or even economic reasons, then becomes an aesthetic bias and a support for creativity In the 19C, the first images took on brown, sepia, bistre and bluish tones. The superb Great Wave by Le Gray (1857) is neither black nor white, more chocolate and ivory. It is the gelatin-silver bromide print, dominant throughout the 20C, which will give the taste of “real” black. As the catalog points out, the very expression “black and white” to designate monochrome photography only appeared when color photography became popular in the 1930s.
