The Boulevard de la Reine of Versailles !!!

I am back, well , always in my Versailles. If you have read my blog posts you know why. I am looking at some older pictures not in my blog and they should be, This one is on memorable historical Boulevard de la Reine ! I have several posts on the streets of Versailles, but this one deserves a post of its own me think.  Therefore, here is my take on the Boulevard de la Reine of Versailles !!! Hope you enjoy this post as I. The Boulevard de la Reine runs from west to east, from the Grille de la Reine (palace) to Avenue des Etats Unis. It measures 1840 meters long, and 39 meters wide. The boulevard is not entirely located in the Notre-Dame district. The section east of the intersection with Rue de Provence is located in the Montreuil district. This boulevard has two lanes in each direction of traffic, as well as two one-way side residential lanes. These are separated with lime trees from the central lanes. The Boulevard de la Reine provides access to the domain of the Château de Versailles through two gates: the Gate of the Queen, located at the end of the boulevard, and the Gate of the Dragon, located on the south side of the boulevard, after the crossroads with the rue de Maurepas. Both walkable and free to the gardens. Versailles Bd de la Reine parking Reine - Richaud c2019 The Boulevard de la Reine was created in 1775, at the time of the establishment of the Prés district, following a royal decision which ordered the creation of the boulevards du Roi, de la Reine and Saint-Antoine. The boulevard was paved between 1776 and 1778 and established along the gardens of rue Neuve-Notre-Dame after the drying of the Clagny pond, (castle gone) located to the north. It was traced from the Neptune basin, parallel to rue Neuve-Notre-Dame, The name of this boulevard, called since its creation Boulevard de la Reine in homage to Marie-Antoinette, has been modified with each change of political regime in France. An old Boulevard de l’Impératrice plaque has been kept in a garage entrance near the crossroads. with rue de Provence. It was renamed in 1793, during the French revolution, Boulevard de l’Égalité; then in 1806, it was called Boulevard de l’Impératrice; in 1814, it resumed its name of Boulevard de la Reine; in 1848, it was Boulevard de la Liberté; and today it is called Boulevard de la Reine again.
