The covered market or halles of Etretat, part I !!!

And my continuing road warrior trip back into our nostalgic Normandy, we visited two main towns and stayed between the two, perfect timing and location. We arrive to Etretat on the road D940 , and we walked the City center all over ! Let me tell you about the covered market or halles of Etretat, part I !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The old covered market or halles at 16 Pl. Maréchal Foch, are a reconstruction of traditional wooden halls, partly executed with old materials, some of which would come from a barn in Brionne, by carpenters from the Channel, designed in 1926. It houses traders and craftsmen who sell souvenirs and various objects.

Built in the early 1900s, completed in 1928, the Old Market is the main attraction of the city center and has rented out the various small shops to vegetable, fruit and fishmongers. Currently, the Old Market no longer houses vegetable, fruit and fishmongers. When you go to the Covered Market, you will find small craft shops, local products and Etretat souvenir shops. Market day in Etretat is Thursday from 9h to 13h on Place du Maréchal Foch, just in front of the Covered Market. You will find everything there: vegetables, fruit, fish, mattresses…
