My restaurants of Madrid, Part II !!!

Again by my sublime dear Madrid !! The gastronomy is one of the highlights of my visit always and we love it !! So many to choose from , but we come back to our usual places, memories oblige!. As I was back again to my dear Madrid will share my more recent culinary adventures with you all. Most of course, repeats, but there is some new ones to join the list, Let me tell you again on my restaurants of Madrid, part II !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The magnificent historical grand Chocolateria San Ginés!  This is an institution in Madrid!! since 1898,  I have many souvenirs of this place coming with my dear late mom Gladys and then my dear late Dad Elio and my dear late wife Martine, and my boys and family and friends all taken here. For me is more than just a churros and chocolate place. I came as a teen ,first to teatro Eslava (now joy eslava) to do community dances for youths, and while leaving late, we hop over to San Ginés to recompose the body and soul; it was a ritual of younger years even before the movida !!! San Gines was more familiar then, nice talks great fun, It has become very touristic lately ,but for me still a nostalgic spot that need to come and try those churros with chocolates again. I have come here each time in Madrid since 1970 , with some years of absent has been pretty consistant, and came back again last week July 2023, The chocolateria San Ginés is a must when in Madrid.

I had some time before the hotel check in so decided to have lunch on the road. Headed straight for the Atocha area and
El Brillante. A wonderful place with great views of the train station Atocha on one side and the Reina Sofia museum on the back. Great chorizo sandwiches and a Mahou 5 stars beer or calamares (squid) sandwich and see the world go by you, superbe! The owner from those days have passed away but the team still there.

I did took the metro to get back to my old piso or apartment, Quintana line 5 plenty on it in my blog, While there in calle de Alcalà 183 took a look at a new cafeteria in the area at least to me and decided to have some sweets and coffee, This was Audrey’ Brunch & Coffee now close and in its place another one call Vivari, not try yet, Later that evening came back to my old haunt at Cervecerie Cruz Blanca on Calle Doctor Esquerdo 157, always reliable and local.
