This is Malang !!

So again going over my wonderful memories of visiting Indonesia, This town is special as my company branch was base there and visited several times for several years. I take you back again to exotic Indonesia and the town of Malang.  Therefore, let me tell you briefly on this is Malang !! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Coming here was first by the airport of Surabaya, Juanda airport, Several posts written on this town and airport in my blog, I should jump ahead to Malang !!   Of course, I stayed in a hotel in Surabaya too (see posts).  Malang is a city in the province of East Java as well. It has a history dating back to the age of Singhasari Kingdom. It is the second most populous city in the province. During Dutch colonization, it was a popular destination for European residents. Dutch heritage in general in the form of ancient buildings such as the Kayutangan Church and Ijen Cathedral which has gothic architecture. The city was capital city of Singhasari in 1222, then transferred to Dutch colony. During the Japanese occupation, Malang was also occupied by Japan by March 1942. After the Independence of Indonesia in 1945, Malang became part of the Republic of Indonesia on 21 September 1945 and re-entered on 2 March 1947 after being re-occupied by the Dutch East Indies.

A pleasant town, Malang was the preferred resting place for European planters during colonial times. The old inhabitants of the region nickname it the “Paris of East Java”. The city is the seat of the diocese of Malang with the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel . From colonial times, Malang kept many religious buildings: Jami Mosque, Church of the Sacred Heart (Gereja Hati Kudus Yesus), Cathedral of Saint Teresa (Gereja Ijen or Katedral Santa Theresia), and Chinese Temple (Eng An Kiong). All passing by colorful places like Miami Chicken, and Persada Hospital ,and the market at Singapori. Again deep into Java island Indonesian places; vivid pictures and people I won’t forget easy. A great séjour stay in colorful exotic  Indonesia.

The city of Malang is surrounded by Mount Arjuno in the north; Mount Semeru to the east; Mount Kawi and Mount Butak in the west; Mount Kelud in the south.The popular active volcano Mount Bromo is about 25 km (16 miles) east of the city. Malang Metropolitan Region is a leading tourist destination in Indonesia with the City of Batu as its center. Malang has various tourist areas including volcanoes to beaches for all to enjoy.  We were on the road warrior mode I love so much ,  the freedom to move about to exotic splendid areas and of course a novelty a gas/petrol station Pertamina ! I also passed by you guess it a market, always love these anywhere. Time to eat of course, and ate at Warung Bu Kris  Jl. Ciliwung No.31, Kota ,a concoction of local platters and fruit juices very exotic, I had some local fried rice, fried fish, and the shredded beef ,wonderful!, it was good, and great live rock music!! There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
