If you have been reading my blog and thank you for it doing it since Nov 2010; then you know my sentimental attachment to Honfleur. A city gear to the ocean and fishing and Normandy, I have several posts on it in my blog and they are all special to me. I had to go there again for a personal duty that I had to do, put the ashes of my father at sea as were my mother and wife, Let me tell you about the Côte de Grâce and Mont Jolie of Honfleur. Hope you enjoy the post as I.
From City center/ downtown Honfleur, head towards Rue du Puits. Looking up, you can already see part of Mont-Joli. We go up the street, until the junction indicated by a panel, on the right. It is then a question of following the Côte de Grâce. The ascent of the hill then really starts, but will only be of short duration. After suffering for many minutes, the top of the climb already reveals an enchanting landscape. It must be said that the panorama is worth its weight in gold, subtly revealing its riches, up to the small lighthouse of Fatouville-Grestain, nestled in the greenery. To the right of the bench, a memorial is dedicated to Notre Dame de Grâce, who is said to have protected Honfleur during the Battle of Normandy in 1944. We then go back down to Honfleur by the coast. But before sealing this beautiful walk, you can see, behind the Calvary, a magnificent panorama of the Seine estuary, with the garden of personalities below, Butin beach and Le Havre. The Normandy Bridge completes the picture. Awesome !!!
Mont Joli is a magnificent viewpoint which deserves a small detour. It offers a breathtaking view of the entire city, below, with its typical Norman-architecture houses, as well as the remarkable Tancarville Bridge, built in the mid-1950’s. The Normandy Bridge, and the mouth of the Seine river. As well as the city of Le Havre and its ports. From the hill, a nice little road goes down to Honfleur and you can thus return to the city on foot via a pleasant walk, see above. Or as with older person like when did it with mom and dad we went up by car and walk on top !!
Mont joli is a beautiful hill, yes right up by the Chapelle de Notre Dame de Grâce (see post). Just a small detail, the above is actually in the town of Equemauville but all related to Honfleur where it is administered by. So credit to Equemauville but all is shown in Honfleur. Just the towns on the hill and on the coast. Got it…..

There you go another wonderful spot in Equemauville next to Honfleur and surrounding hills. A wonderful family trip, very educational on the history of the region, hope you enjoy the Côte de Grâce and Mont Jolie as I.
And remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all !!!
