Curiosities of Amsterdam !!

I have visited Amsterdam several times on business and once family vacation, in all several posts in my blog, However, as usual by me….I left some pictures out that feel needs to be in the blog.  Therefore, let me tell you about my curiosities of Amsterdam !! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

I have told you about one of my harder trips abroad was connecting with Schiphol airport, I know many like it but to me going north to then going south makes no sense, and the delays are always there as in this particular case,  KLM gave me a nice shuttle bus ride to the Bastion Best Western hotel with dinner, breakfast included all free; then a 10€ voucher for lunch on Sunday. The return shuttle bus was nice also. I have come most of the time by transfer/connection to Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport located less than 20 minutes by train from the Centraal train station in city center. The best way to get to the city ,and if first time or more, head for the tourist office of Amsterdam just across…This is the Centraal train station (see post): https://www.b-europe.com/EN/Stations/Amsterdam-Centraal

Usually, I stayed in hotels by the Centrum or center area so walking was easy from there all over. The  Crown Plaza Centrum , the hotel was very nice and very central walked to the train station. Right off walking from train station Centraal or center. For lunch I was walking along the wharfs and saw a Subway, again nice clean food and memories of home so went for it, Unfortunately cannot find it now believe they close, they were by Waterplein West by the ferry boat station of GVB linking with the Centraal train station , Anyway here for the memories of always, Subway with current locations webpage : https://restaurants.subway.com/netherlands/amsterdam

One night believe was the second day , we went to Restaurant Cafe in de Waag, a historical castle like building with nice ambiance and a good European steak (small by American standards).webpage: https://indewaag.nl/en

Finally upon leaving I try a nice bio place, Cafe Dwaze Zaken, with very friendly service,and good ambiance,the food was just right in a chorizo sandwich with a nice pint of Gulpener beer. Just to get me going for the train trip back home from Centraal. Webpage : https://dwazezaken.nl/en/

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
