I have passed thru and visit briefly as a road warrior in me. Normandie has been with me for a long time and many visits to its glorious sites. I like to update this post on text and links splitting the monuments to just tell you about quant beach town of Villers sur Mer. Therefore, here is my take on this is Villers sur Mer !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
We ended up in Villers-sur-Mer another dandy beach town. It has a wonderful beach front, and sandy beach. Access the beach by the avenue de la République which runs along the beach, as well as by rue Michel d’Ornano and rue du Général Leclerc. These last two being narrow, we advise you to favor the first. You will find parking spaces on the avenue de la République (paid only in July and August) and in the perpendicular streets or behind the Casino Tranchant, place du Lieutenant Fernand Fanneau. Paying parking is also accessible to Place Jean Mermoz against Villers-sur-Mer Tourist office, paying only in July and August. Other free parking spaces are accessible in residential areas a few streets from the sea.

The Church Saint-Martin is a remarkable example of the neo-Gothic style that flowered in Normandy at the end of the 19C. It was built from 1872 ,thanks to donations, it replaced the old church in 1874, which became too cramped. Inside see sculptures and stained glass of an exceptional set of 51 colorful canopies, considered as one masterpieces of lower Norman art from the end of the 19C. A painting by Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant representing “Saint Joseph Father Fourréricier du Christ” is also shown very nice.

And another nice Casino right across from the beach from the groupe Tranchant. Nine casinos have followed one another in Villers-sur-Mer since its creation. The first opened in 1856, made of wood near the Place Mermoz square, to symbolize the new fashionable seaside resort. With the opening in 1884 of the Trouville-Cabourg railroad passing through Villers-sur-Mer and the galloping urban ascent of the city over the decades, other larger, more functional, more modern constructions have taken place. The current casino, with its facade directly overlooking the sea, dates from 1988. Its modern architecture, in concrete, tile facing, aluminum and glass, is clearly asserted. It has a nice complement of slot machines, electronic English roulette, black jack, bar, restaurant, sea side terrace, concerts and shows, entertainment and concrete games, and a cinema.

The ride was wonderful to see the architecture, fancy villas and glorious beaches. It is worth coming back for in depth look ! Like I said, the reason of my trip here was for more than fancy tourism but it is always catchy. Again, hope you enjoy this post on this is Villers sur Mer as I.
