This is Winchmore Hill in England !!!

This time took my road warrior skills to go again to jolly England with the Le Shuttle train service (see post), and my Ford ; towing along my good boys and wonderful Rex! It was a very nice trip going into the countryside and seeing several towns of wonderul architecture and history, This one was a pleasant surprise as it was our lodging site and easy on and off to all we were going to see, Beautiful countryside and quiet life at its best ; worth the detour, me think, Therefore, let me tell you about this is Winchmore Hill in England !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Winchmore Hill is a village in the parish of Penn, in Buckinghamshire, with the post town of Amersham (see posts) in England.nested between Amersham at 3 miles, and Beaconsfield at 4 miles, and 30 miles from London, It features a triangular village green, the local Winchmore Hill Memorial Hall, and a local cricket club,

Winchmore Hill stretches back to about the 12C with a small settlement supporting farms grouped round a Common and a pond.  In 1958 the pond was filled in but the Common survives, on the fringes of what was once Wycombe Heath, 4,000 acres of open common land providing grazing for animals and a source of firewood and building materials. The hamlet straddled three separate parishes- Amersham, Penn and Coleshill By the 17C, a number of larger farms had been established down Fagnall Lane -Glory Farm, Fagnall and Lowlands.  There still exist about 8 houses in the village with probable 17C origins, including ‘The Plough’. The original division between three parishes was superseded in 1955 when the village voted to become part of Penn Parish , The surrounding residential properties predominantly date back to the 20C Opposite the Potters Arms bb pub, a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was opened in 1861, reflecting a strong Methodist tradition within the village. A Primitive Methodist Chapel was built on The Hill in 1860 and regular services continue to this day.

The Potters Arms B&B Pub is today a Nepalese pub with a British soul ; a place where two rich cultures meet over good food, good drink, and good company. pub is about more than food. It’s about community. A place where locals, friends, and families gather. The Potters Arms is a traditional English Village pub with a beautiful inglenook fire place. It is located overlooking the village green and has some fantastic walks on the edge of the Chiltern Hills , Very traditional olde worlde English pub with parquet flooring, large inglenook open fireplaces, leather sofas and original low ceiling beams

And this is what I chose to for lodging and drinks and home base in the area to see in my follow up posts, The experience was nice even if the old pub rooms needs a bit of a refurbishing ; its old,
