The Verulamium Museum of St Albans !!!

This time took my road warrior skills to go again to jolly England with the Le Shuttle train service (see post), and my Ford ; towing along my good boys and wonderful Rex! It was a very nice trip going into the countryside and seeing several towns of wonderul architecture and history, This one is a must and one of our highlights of the trip, we will be back, eventually, Therefore, let me tell you about  the Verulamium Museum of St Albans !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Verulamium Museum, which tells the story of everyday life in Roman Britain using objects from the excavations of the important Roman Town; Recreated Roman rooms and hands-on discovery areas The Sandridge Hoard ,a collection of roman gold coins found locally in 2012 by a local metal detectorist, A video about the excavations, some of the finest Roman mosaics and wall plasters outside the Mediterranean, A gift shop in partnership with The British Museum with a wide range of products from pocket-money items to books, jewellery and decorative pieces.

This museum was established following the 1930s excavations carried out by Mortimer Wheeler and his wife, Tessa and houses a vast collection of finds excavated from the site of Verulamium. Noticeable by its distinctive red brick rotunda, the museum sits in Veralamium Park where you can explore the remains of the Roman town. Admire intricate designs and vibrant colours. Learn more about life in Roman times through pieces from everyday life such as utensils, bottles and jewellery.The museum offers a variety of hands-on activities and interactive exhibits for children. They can participate in workshops, dress up in Roman costumes, and even create their own Roman mosaics. Wander the historic site of the Roman town in Verulamium Park where you can find the remains of a hypocaust (underfloor heating system), which ran under an intricate mosaic floor.If you venture a little further, you can see visit the Roman Theatre and see the Roman city walls.
