The Church Notre Dame of Château la Valliére !!!

I was on my by now monthly road warrior trails of my belle France, I was out with my boys and my good dog Rex riding into the wonderful regions near me. This even if passed by before, is my first time in the town of Château la Valliére, full of architecture and history monuments. The village of Château-la-Vallière is located in the Indre-et-Loire department 37, in the Centre-Val de Loire region of my belle France. Therefore, here is my take on the Church Notre Dame of Château la Valliére !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The village of Château la Valliére has nearly 1,800 inhabitants, It is located 17 km from Le Lude, 38 km from Tours, 62 km from Le Mans , 74 km from Angers, 260 km from Paris ,and 299 km from my current home. We came here from Le Lude on the D306 road which becomes same road the D959 then bear left around the town on the D766 road to connect with the D34 road, but turning left on the D349 road to Château La Villiére and its church.

The Church of Notre Dame is believed to have been built on the site of the former chapel of the village priory. Rebuilt in the mid-19C, and then restored in the last quarter of the 20C, it preserves beautiful ancient remains. From the exterior, the church reveals a bell tower-porch, ending in a hexagonal spire, projects slightly from the facade. The whole has six thin bays, four on the facade, and a double one topped with a small rose window on the projection of the bell tower-porch. The semicircular portal has sculpted arches. beautiful bell tower porch, elaborately carved, projecting from the rest of the main façade and surmounting a beautiful Romanesque entrance door set in a semicircular arch between several arches. On the south façade are the arches of an old portal and a beautiful occulus, both from the 12C, salvaged from the former priory chapel. Six beautiful, slender, pointed arched openings decorate the façade and are adorned with stained-glass windows ; most of which date from the late 19C.

Completed in 1881, The Notre-Dame Church features stained-glass windows in the choir
in 1880 , then in the baptismal chapel in 1896 , four stained-glass windows on the north side in 1927-1928, while the south side of the nave was glazed in 1925-1926 . An oculus features a stained-glass window depicting Saint Nicholas . Finally, at the entrance to the nave, two anonymous and undated stained-glass windows should be compared to the works of the neighboring parish of Courcelles-de-Touraine from 1855.
