I am digging deep again into my cd rom vault andn finding some gems even on the personal level; sharing my family’s life in our belle France. This is particularily fond as not only visit but was my first encounter eating out in France! My first job was in Cergy St Christophe,(see posts), and on our road warrior trails we came to Creil and saw the same restaurant so we went in, Memories forever, both sites restaurants are now closed, but here for the memories of always, Nice memories of me and my family in an off the beaten path town , Therefore, let me tell you about this is Creil !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The town of Creil is located in the Oise department no. 60 in the Hauts-de-France region of my belle France. The city is crossed by the Oise irver, as a gateway city of the Oise-Pays de France regional natural park, Creil is bordered by the Halatte forest and by the Chantilly forest, It is located 45 km from Paris, 35 km from Beauvais , 72 km from Amiens, 85 km from Versailles, and 563 km from my current home, The newly name D1016 from Pierrefitte-sur-Seine to Dunkirk via Amiens, now benefits from a four-lane ring road which bypasses the city. Creil is also connected to the autoroute A1 by the D1330 which passes through Senlis and thus allows access to Paris. It is also connected to Beauvais by the D1016 and the RN31, also four-lane.
The memories here is taken the family to Chantilly passing on the N16 we stop at the Courtepaille restaurant in the limits of Creil, now closed, This was back in 2010 but worth it in my blog for the memories of always, I show my boys and my dear late wife Martine RIP, The Buffalo Grill Courtepaille group changes its name and renames itself “Napaqaro” in 2020. Since then with the La Boucherie group in 2023, Some of the franchises still continue, The first Courtepaille was inaugurated in August 1961, on the edge of the N6, in Burgundy. Mind you my first encounter with this brand was upon arriving in France in August 2003 at their restaurant in 10 Rue du Petit Albi, Cergy Val d’Oise 95 now this one closed as well, The offical Courtepaille restaurants: https://restaurants.courtepaille.com/restaurants-creil-c60175

Some of the things to see here with more time are the Gallé-Juillet Museum, Auguste and Berthe Gallé, without descendants following the death in combat of their only son Maurice, during the Battle of Bouchavesnes in September 1916 during the Great War or WWI, donated their house and everything it contained to the town in 1930 to turn it into a museum, with the town being responsible for preserving its appearance. The museum’s rooms therefore still retain the decoration and furnishings of a 19C bourgeois house. The museum also presents a collection of earthenware from Creil-Montereau. Since October 2010, this collection has been exhibited in the “Maison de la Faïence”, located opposite the museum. The remains of the castle and the Gallé-Juillet house, on the island of Saint-Maurice, allée du Musée, Saint-Médard Church, place Saint-Médard , The city hall, island of Saint-Maurice: Built near the site of the ruins of the old castle and the collegiate church of Saint-Evremond, it was inaugurated on June 7, 1903 , The Rivierre nail factory, rue des Usines; established at the same address since 1888, the company is the last nail factory still operating in France.
The first mention of Creil dates back to around 633. At that time, according to the Life of Saint Eloi, written by Dadon of Rouen, the Merovingian king Dagobert I received homage there from the Breton king Judicael. In the 10C, the castle of Creil belonged to the lords of Senlis, it was located on the current island of Saint-Maurice. Around 1150, the collegiate church of Saint-Evremond was founded nearby, hosting relics that were the subject of a very popular pilgrimage. Louis IX acquired the lordship and the kings of France resided there regularly. Charles the Fair was born there in June 1294. The city suffered several battles during the Hundred Years’ War and was definitively reconquered in 1441. In 1567, the city was taken by the Huguenots, then occupied again during the Fronde. On September 3, 1914, the 4th Kavallerie-Division sent a squadron of the Kürassier 2 and a company of the Jäger-Bataillon 7 to occupy Creil, with the mission of monitoring the Beaumont-sur-Oise region and launching stikes on Beauvais. During, WWII, two resistance movements stood out in the town: the Civil and Military Organization and the Socialist-influenced Libération-Nord.
