This is Mazé-Milon !!!

Let me tell you more ,always more of my belle France, It has been many trips in my road warrior trails for many years lost count always with plenty of surprises , This was one of them as usually not into secondary castles as we have so many of them. Let me tell a bit on this wonderful find on the former town of Mazé, in the Marne et Loire dept 49 of the Pays de la Loire region of my belle France, Therefore, this is Mazé-Milton !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The former city of Mazé became on January 1, 2016, a delegated town in the new town of Mazé-Milon, It is located on roads D 55, Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire, and D 74, Bauné at 29 km from Angers ,34 km from Saumur, 104 km from Tours, 118 km from Nantes and 253 km from my current home, We got here on the N165, A11, A87 ; D347 to D74 and castle, The château de Montgeoffroy 18C is located on the territory of the former town of Mazé,

The Château de Montgeoffroy has six living rooms and twenty apartments. The facade on the garden was therefore oriented northeast. Two salons are located in the main axis between courtyard and park. The dining room is oval in shape. The large staircase is postponed in the opposite corner. The Marshal decided to establish his apartment south on the entrance side, in order to be near the office and the buffet, which he wanted to keep in the eye. He had the top-of-portraits of pretty servants decorated the topped portraits.

A bit of history tell us that in 1676 Erasme de Contades, from a family of nobility located in Anjou since the beginning of the 17C, acquired the land of Montgeoffroy which belonged to the family of the Grandière. In 1772 Louis Georges Erasme de Contades, Marshal since 1758 and governor of Alsace in 1762, decided to have the castle rebuilt in order to retire; The works, which lasted four years, was mainly led by his son, the Marquis de Contades – who settled there from 1772 , and the old castle was demolished, but respected the layout in U , and kept two towers and the moat, as well as the chapel, dating from 1543. The domain past ok the French revolution and the Vendée War by retaining its commons, agricultural buildings, its chapel and the factories of the park and, more rare or even exceptional, its archives and its furniture, an underground passage was also built to allow the inhabitants of the castle to run away. This path was connected to an old monks farm located on the Macheferrière chemin. Today the passage is inaccessible because it has been closed but there are vestiges as much in the plans of the castle as in the cellar of the old farm transformed into a home. From its construction in 1772 until today, the château de Montgeoffroy has remained in the hands of the family of Contades which has kept over the years the authenticity of a prestigious monument Marquis de Contades opens its doors to visitors around the world for total immersion in 18C France. All the furniture of the castle are indeed inherited from the first occupants of the castle and reveal all the richness of the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles.
