The Château de la Rivière of Riviére !!!

The village of Rivière is located in the dept no 37 of Indre-et-Loire in the region Centre-Val de Loire of my belle France. The village of Rivière belongs to the district of Chinon and the canton of Chinon. Chinon is 4 km away, Lémeré and Seuilly 8 km ,It has about 703 inhabitants, It is off the road D749 very near the Vienne river. It is about 312 km from my house. These are all firsts amazing abundance of marvelous places to see in my belle France. I ,again, passed by here rather quickly and finally this time stop to take a look at the church, the main building and see one of my wine suppliers. The Château de la Riviére located at 11 rue des Lavandiéres is one of the spots where I had my wines but this time was on my road warrior mode and just passed by it: The old fortified castle is said to have been built in the 12C, Since ancient times, vines have existed in Rivière, which was also an important river port in the trading and transport of wine. Most of the old plots were surrounded by stone walls to protect the vines from disease and frost. Fifteen generations follow one another in history to transmit to us.The château de Rivière was built in 1850 by Désiré de Rivière on the remains of an old medieval castle. It remained in the same family in direct line since 1547 and its vines have been exploited from the Middle Ages. In 2020, Hubert de Monteynard , (Count), and his son Gabriel took over the vineyard and operated the biological conversion of the exploitation and valued a biodiversity in work here since ancient times.The wines are of high quality. Possibility to sleep at the castle.

The wines are the text from the castle (we have tried the rosé and révérence red) Rose Desirée de Rivière ,a well -chosen first name to pay tribute to women by whom our castle remains in direct line in the family since 1547. A clear and delicate rosé with fruity and fresh accents, from a pressing of grapes with the harvest and fermentation at low temperature. Désiré de Rivière red cab franc, the lady who built the new castle in 1850 on the remains of the medieval castle. The architecture of the castle adopts the neo Renaissance style … from a balanced assembly of old vines, this wine symbolizes the measure and the wisdom of Désiré which lived up to 97 years! The Révérence red is a gesture of decorum and respect. This wine highlights the long family history in our field. It comes from the oldest vines of the castle and was raised in barrels twelve months, while respecting our tradition and our values: the values ​​of the earth and those who serve it. And the petite loge de vignes or small lodge of vines, built at the same time as the new castle is unique, by its vault of round tuffeau stones. It has always been a place of comfort and fraternity for the winegrowers. A state of mind for this wine; Coming from the same plot and vinified in the expression of red fruits and freshness.

Riviére owes its name to its situation on the edge of the Vienne river. Saint Martin probably passed several times through this village by going to Candes, because there was formerly in this place a bridge with boats which made it possible to pass from one shore to another. It is said that its Church Notre-Dame (see post) , founded during the High Middle Ages, would house the first sanctuary in France dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
