Some of the things to see here, me think, and with more time are the Sainte-Radegonde Church , The ramparts are built in the 15C to protect the city from the English, only a door that shelters the City/town hall today. The 17C dovecote located in the lower streets was part of the old fortified farm of the Poële tower. A dovecote of 1,650 boulins restored by the town in the years 1990-2000. A dolmen, called “La Pierre de Massigny”, is located near Vouillé, leaving by the road D 7, in the direction of Villiers. The Menhir de Cillais is located by the hamlet of Cillais. It is 1.60 m high for a 1.60 m width ,and 30 cm thick. It dates from the Neolithic era.
A bit of history but huge as this was a decisive battle for the kingdom of the Francs or France, In the Western Roman Empire, the Visigoths, who sacked Rome in 410, then settled in the Narbonne and Toulouse region. In 418, under the pressure of the Roman troops of General Flavius Constance, they concluded a federation agreement with the Roman authorities of Ravenna, instituting the Kingdom of Toulouse, which took control of the Garonne Aquitaine to the Loire. End of the West Empire (476), the Visigoths kings of which Alaric II from 484 are faced with the advance of the Salians of King Clovis, who seizes the Kingdom of Soissons in 486, also reaching the Loire. The conflict between Visigoths and Francs has a religious dimension, the Visigoths being Ariens Christians, heretics in the eyes of the popes, while the Franks, polytheists, convert to Roman Christianity in 496 (Baptism of Clovis and the beginning of the French monarchy). In 507, the army of Francs won a decisive victory during the Battle of Vouillé: the Visigoths are forced to abandon Aquitaine, then the Narbonnaise and to fall back on their possessions of Hispania,(Spain) where they establish the Kingdom of Toledo until 711.
