A bit of history I like tell us that in 1097, the lord of Ménetou, Sarlon le Riche, having decided to accompany the Viscount of Bourges, Odo Arpin de Bourge Last Viscount de Bourges, the same one who ceded the Viscount of Bourges to King Philippe to be accompanied to the first crusade. Around 1100, gives the Saint-Pierre de Ménetou church, with its income, at the Saint-Sulpice-lez-Bourges Abbey of the Order of Saint-Benoît ,Around 1450, Jacques Coeur bought the lands and the castle of Menetou. In the following years, the great financier fell in disgrace and his property was seized by King Charles VII. The latter cedes this lordship to his favorite of the moment, Antoinette de Maignelais, who became Dame de Villequier by her marriage to André de Villequier. Under the monarchy, the Catholics of Menetou-Salon have three places of worship: the parish church Saint-Pierre, the priory of Saint-Martin and the chapel of the castle. The parish is attached to the archpriest of Bourges. On the occasion of several marriages, the land of Menetou -Salon, which had remained nearly two centuries owned by the Pot family (many times ambassadors of the King of France) goes in a short time to see several nobiliary houses succeeded at its head,
In 1801, under the consulate and Napoleon Bonaparte was established in Menetou-Salon a court called “justice of the peace” to settle the neighborhood conflicts that appeared in the towns, In 1817, during the reign of Louis XVIII and the French Restoration, the headquarters of the justice of the peace is transferred to Saint-Martin-d’Asigny. In the 1830s, under the July monarchy and King Louis-Philippe I, the town of Menetou-Salon was characterized by weaving activities, nut oils, wood and of course the production of Wines in 1867, under the Second Empire and the Emperor Napoleon III, the Church of Menetou-Salon was rebuilt. The Château de Menetou-Salon was restored and enlarged around 1885 by Prince Auguste d’Arenberg, president of the Compagnie du Canal de Suez, deputy for the Cher department.
Something nice from this area are the wines ! The first producers’ syndicate established around 1890, followed by a wine production revival occurring in the 1970s. The Vendanges (grape harvest) in Centre-Val de Loire begin between the last week of September and the first week of October, ending the last two weeks of October. Menetou-Salon whites are fresh and fruity, spicy. They offer a blend of citrus and floral aromas. Touches of pepper and menthol are revealed in a round, full mouthfeel. The reds are supple and flavourful. They are dominated by notes of ripe cherry and plum. The rosés are suggestive of white fruit and dried fruit. Enjoy it without moderation::)

Let me tell you about the Château de Menetou-Salon of Menetou-Salon !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The town of Menetou-Salon is located in the dept 18 of Cher in the Centre Val de Loire region of my belle France. It is 23 km de Bourges , 156 km from Tours, 99 km from Orléans , 214 km from Paris and 492 km from my house
The Château de Menetou-Salon dates back to the 14C , The start date of the renovations and work to the major reshuffles of the 1880s. The castle is inhabited today by the current owner, the 5th Prince and Duke D ‘Arenberg ,French before Hugues de Cormaing gave in 1450 Menetou and Quantilly to Jacques Coeur, the castle belonged to Sarlon the Riche, contemporary of Henri Ier, then to the house of Vèvre, Vierzon and Sancerre. The primitive castle belonged in 1448 to Jacques Coeur the Grand Argentier of Charles VII of France before being confiscated during his disgrace in 1455, to be awarded to Antoinette de Lénélay, widow of André Villequier then bought by Jeanne de Graville. The rich mansion of Bourges, the Jacques-Coeur palace,(see post) of the 19C. The old castle was indeed enlarged and embellished, between 1884 and 1890 the Château de Menetou-Salon was one of the stages of the Route de Jacques Coeur road. The Château and Domaine de Menetou-Salon can only be visited with a guide, either during opening hours to the public for the individual or groups, You will discover there in turn the castle with its chapel, its salons, the library and the dining room. Then you will visit the saddlery, and the automotive museum with its collectible vehicles. Your visit will end on a tasting of the wine of the Prince of Arenberg (subject to availability).
