Curiosities of Mexico, part I !!!

Looking at my blog, realise had these pictures mix in with other posts and they should a post of their own, for the memories of always. This allows me to show in my blog places even with older paper pictures. Nostalgia sets in and here I go on the curiosities of Mexico , part I !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Monumento de los Niños Heroes or the Monument of the Children Heroes serves as a tribute to the cadets of the Military College who gave their lives to defend Chapultepec Castle from the North American invasion on September 13, 1847. It is a mausoleum located in the Chapultepec Forest, right at the beginning of the road that leads to the Castle of Chapultepec.

Xochimilco ,Mexico;  this simple working-class neighborhood features the famous Xochimilco Canals, which are the last remnants of a vast maritime transportation network built by the Aztecs. Colorful boats reminiscent of gondolas take visitors on cruises past food vendors, artisans and mariachi bands. The atmosphere is festive, especially on weekends. Go there by heading to Tasqueña metro station, which is at the very end of Blue Line 2. From Tasqueña, there is a special train called Tren Ligero that departs from Tasqueña and arrives at Xochimilco.

And I arrrive in the state of Jalisco ! By the airport of Guadalajara, and went to San Juan de los Lagos The Plaza de Armas or Rita Pérez de Moreno Civic Plaza is in the center of the city. It was built in the 18C, and later modified. In the center, there is a Monument to Independence, erected in 1872. It consists of a thin column supported by a base which has four dragon figures. At the top, there is marble sculpture of a woman holding a laurel crown. The monument stand in the center of a large circular fountain.

I ,also, went south to the state of Quintana Roo and town of Bacalar where I saw the wonderful Cenote Azul , the darkest of the four cenotes there, it sinks abruptly, without warning, to a depth of 90 meters with 182 meters in diameter. The cenote itself, the hole, is about 30 yards away, where the water suddenly darkens. You will  discover stromatolites. It looks like blocks of stone, it’s hard as a rock, but it’s alive. Rest assured, they will not bite your toe as their only movement is to grow 0.4 millimeters per year! Cenote Azul is crystal clear and good for diving when the Caribbean is too rough. Because the water is so clear you can easily see quite deep. It is the largest and supposedly the deepest Cenote in the State of Quintana Roo, part of the Yucatàn peninsula, While there had a wonderful lunch while watching a football/soccer game, and really this is heaven around you of natural beauty and the food and cold beers was great; a must.

There you go folks, a walk of nostalgia from my very earliest life while in the Americas. The wonders of places now far away but always remember them fondly. Again, hope you enjoy the post on curiosities of Mexico, part I !!! as I.

And remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all !!!
