It’s time to tell you again my other love, Madrid. Let’s take you on a brief tour of the other parks of Madrid for the memories of always in my dear  Madrid . A city that is invigorating to the soul, active, modern, no taboos, free, open, lively, enthusiastic , and welcoming, its  Madrid , all worth it a million times. Again, glad to find me these pictures in my cd rom vault to have in my blog for you and me. Therefore, I will show you here the Parque de Berlin of Madrid  !!! Hope you enjoy them as I.

The Parque de Berlin Park is located in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood of the Chamartín district of the City of Madrid. Covering an area of 4.92 hectares, it is bordered by the streets of San Ernesto, Marcenado, Ramón y Cajal Avenue, and Doctor Marco Corera which is a dead-end alley parallel to Calle del Príncipe de Vergara. The park was inaugurated on November 9, 1967. The park is named for its proximity to the German School and for the scheduled visit to Madrid of the then Mayor of Berlin, Willy Brandt, which was set to take place in 1966, but eventually occurred in 1967. German residents of Madrid financed a monolith in honour of their city, which was placed in the park and which is still standing today, although the ceramic plate is not the original. The closest public transport is on metro Concha Espina, line 9, Also, bus lines 16 and 29 along the park on Calle del Principe de Vergara, In the corner with this street and Avenida de Ramon y Cajal you have stop for bus lines 43,52, and 120, The park is about one km from the Santiago Bernabeu stadium of my Real Madrid CF,

The park includes a sculpture of a bear, the symbol of the city of Berlin; a monument to the German composer Ludwig von Beethoven depicting his head atop a granite piano sculpture ; and a bear that represents the city of Berlin ; a bust in memory of Álvaro Iglesias Sánchez ,(“The Hero of Carranza” for the act that cost him his life: upon discovering a fire in a building at no 7 Calle Carranza , he entered the building several times, managing to rescue three persons, though on the fourth attempt he succumbed, trapped by the flames. He was awarded the Cross of the Order of Beneficence ); and a small auditorium. The main fountain, located opposite the Parrish Church Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe or Our Lady of Guadalupe, aka Church of the Mexicans, in the lower part of the park, is dedicated to the fall of the Berlin Wall. This body of water, once a natural lake, is now the current pond, surrounded by a low wall. It also features four powerful jets that transform the pond into a fountain. Inside are three concrete fragments of the wall that separated the western and eastern sectors of Berlin for 28 years, installed here in 1990.

The higher, flatter area of the park includes a small open-air auditorium near Calle del Príncipe de Vergara and a multi-sports area with courts for basketball, handball, and futsal. During the neighborhood and district festivals, musical groups perform in the auditorium, while the sports area is occupied by fairground stalls and attractions. The auditorium is also used by the orchestra sponsored by the Mercado de Chamartín to give open-air concerts. In 1 984, Víctor Manuel (a Spanish singer-songwriter, music producer, film producer and film director, considered, along with his wife, the actress and singer Ana Belén, one of the most representative artists of the Spanish transition to democracy), a resident of the Prosperidad neighborhood, adjacent to the park, published a song dedicated to the place called Parque Berlin.
