Once again glad to have found me more pictures in my cd rom vaults to show in my blog for you and me. This is a City that I have been several times but not enough sightseeing me think ; its worth more indeed. I like to tell you a bit more on Saint Cloud, in the dept 92 Hauts de Seine, in the Île de France region of my belle France. Therefore, here is my take on the Passerelle de l’Avre of Saint Cloud !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The City of Saint Cloud is 10 km from Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral point zero. It extends over the slopes which dominate the left bank of the Seine river ,opposite the Bois de Boulogne. The city center is located 3 km from the Porte de Saint-Cloud and the Porte d’Auteuil ,this two I have driven often. The town is bordered to the north by Suresnes (see post, and where I have worked), to the west by Rueil-Malmaison, Garches and Marnes-la-Coquette (see posts ) and to the south by Sèvres and Ville-d’Avray (see posts). Its eastern limit is materialized by the Seine river which separates it from the towns of Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris (Bois de Boulogne) via the passarelle de l’Avre footbridge. It is located at 1 avenue Alphonse-Moguez, Saint-Cloud with access on the Transilien L train from Gare Saint Lazaire in Paris to arrêt/stop Le-Val-d’Or in Saint Cloud, You can go from Versailles Rive Droite train station to same stop,

The Passerelle de l’Avre is a footbridge over the Seine river, located on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne and connecting Paris to Saint-Cloud, designed by Gustave Eiffel, the footbridge is the westernmost point of Paris. This is part of an aqueduct bridge built between the Bois de Boulogne in Paris and Saint-Cloud, according to plans by Gustave Eiffel, at the request of the City of Paris. On the west side, it marks the boundary between the Quai du Président-Carnot and the Quai Marcel-Dassault. On the east side, in Paris, it starts at the Grille-de-Saint-Cloud, where the Allée du Bord-de-l’Eau, the Quai du Quatre-Septembre, and the Boulevard Anatole-France meet. The bridge is part of the Avre aqueduct, which carries water from the Avre river to Paris and allows pipelines to cross the Seine. The Avre aqueduct captures water from the rivers in the Eure department and carries it to the Saint-Cloud reservoir. Downstream, the Avre footbridge carries water from the reservoir to Paris.

We find ourselves on this entirely pedestrian footbridge, which majestically unfolds towards the Eiffel Tower. Used daily by walkers and cyclists, it connects Paris to Saint-Cloud via the Bois de Boulogne. From the very first steps, one is struck by the spectacular view: on one side, a majestic tree, on the other, streetlights that seem to disappear into the Bois de Boulogne, with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop. The Avre Footbridge, built at the end of the 19C, is an integral part of an aqueduct bridge that was part of the eponymous aqueduct. The latter was an essential part of the system that supplied Paris with water from the Eure-et-Loir rivers to the Saint-Cloud reservoir. Even today, this footbridge supports the water pipe that provides Paris with approximately one-fifth of its daily water needs. In 1891, the Avre aqueduct bridge included springs and deep wells spread within a radius of 175 km around Paris on the one hand, and river water treatment plants on the other.

There you go folks, surely , memories forever, and as often the case nothing is eternal. The anecdote here is that for a great town, closed to me never dwell into its things to see much ,and needs to be seen more, me think. One more spot of my belle France that need to come back, eventually. Again, hope you have enjoy the post on the Passerelle de l’Avre of Saint Cloud !!! as I.
And after all, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all !!!
