This is Caracas ,Venezuela !!!

Ok so feeling nostalgic again and so sorry could not find any more pictures! These were the times I traveled from Florida USA to the Americas, and pictures are very few if any as in those times I was into post cards collection (4K+ 76 countries). Once I stop the collection, pictures took over on popular travel forums and then explosion over to my blog.  Just for memories’s sake on Caracas, Venezuela , bringing back these memorable moments of my early travels in our world. Therefore, here is my take on this is Caracas, Venezuela !!! Hope you enjoy it as I

The City of Santiago de León de Caracas, aka Caracas, is the capital and largest city of Venezuela. The city occupies the entirety of the Libertador Capital District municipality and part of the Miranda State, specifically the towns Baruta, Chacao, El Hatillo and Sucre, which conform to the Metropolitan District of Caracas, The City is located about 126 km from Valencia, 272 km from Barquisimeto and 514 km from Maracaibo as well as only12 km from the Caribbean Sea, I just visit clients also in Valencia and Maracaibo,

I always came by the Maiquetía – Simón Bolívar International Airport , located 21 kms from the city. This is in Maiquetía, of La Guaira State, a city near Caracas, In addition, used the metro built in 1983, not a cable car built in 1955 and renovated in 2000, and not a metrocar opened in 2009. The official is block at the moment so give you the air travel planner trip on the airport info : https://www.trip.com/flights/airport-ccs/

Let me tell you a bit on the picture and the reason that made finally do this post, The llanera harp is a typical musical instrument of the Venezuelan plains region. The harp arrived in the Americas with the colonizers. In Venezuela, abundant documentation regarding its introduction dates back to the 17C, and it remains in popular use today, being a model similar to those used since the medieval period. In Venezuela, the harp has become inextricably linked to the music and dance of the joropo. There are two types of harp in Venezuela: the llanera and the tuyera. Although both play music of the same genre, the joropo, their respective styles vary considerably in form and melody, as well as in the number and material of the strings, the shape of the soundbox, and the arrangement of the tuning pegs, which range from 30 to 37. In Venezuela, the joropo is considered the quintessential national dance, and there are three types classified by region, with significant variations in instrumentation and style: the Joropo Oriental, the Joropo Central, and the Joropo Llanero. The first records of the joropo date back to when on April 10th 1749, Venezuela declared the traditional Venezuelan joropo a National Cultural Heritage on March 15th, 2014.

Some of the things to see here with more time are the Capitolio Nacional, Casa Natal (native house of) de Bolivar, Museo de Arte Colonial, Plaza Bolívar, National Pantheon, Parque Central, Palace of Miraflores, Cathedral of Santa Ana, Basilica of Santa Chapella, Palacio de las Academias, Museo de Bellas Artes (MBA), Parque del Este and Teatro Teresa Carreño.

A bit of history tell us that the antecedents of the founding of Caracas go back to the founding of the cattle ranch of San Francisco, which in 1560 established the mestizo Francisco Fajardo Caracas per se was founded on July 25, 1567 as Santiago de León de Caracas by the Spanish explorer Diego de Losada. The City gave birth to General Francisco de Miranda (1750) as well as to Simón Bolívar (1783) in a house between the calle de San Jacinto and Calle Traposos in the city center, he was the revolutionary liberator of South America. On July 5 1811 it was proceeded to sign the Act of the Declaration of Independence of Venezuela, which generated the beginning of the war of independence of Venezuela. In 1821 Caracas became the capital of the Republic, creating Gran Colombia, which united with the current republics of Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela. The Colombian Republic dissolved and departed from the Constitución de Cúcuta, so that in 1830 the city of Caracas became the federal capital of Venezuela. As an anecdote, the Franco-Danish painter Camille Pissarro, born in 1830 on the island of Saint Thomas (today US Virgin Islands), spent two years in Caracas with his friend Fritz Melbye, another Danish artist. He painted and drew there until 1854 before returning to Saint Thomas to work in the family business.

The country is ongoing an upheavel at the moment January 2025 ,and not to make my blog a political one, just wishing for the best of the Venezuelan people in democracy and freedom.
