This is Saint Germain sur Morin !!!

Oh this is and always will be a sentimental city of my passing trips with the family. I am thrill to tell you about Saint Germain sur Morin, glad to passed by it and remind of the wonderful times by it. Therefore, let me tell you about this is Saint Germain sur Morin !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The town of Saint-Germain-sur-Morin is located in the Seine-et-Marne department no 77, in the Île-de-France region of my belle France, The town water sources consists of eight watercourses, including the Grand Morin river, 118 km long, a left-bank tributary of the Marne river, The town is located 10 km from Meaux, 2 km from Coutevroult,6 km from Bailly-Romainvilliers (where we were lodge), and 512 km from my current home, To avoid tolls, we left our home base in Bailly-Romainvilliers along the D406 road to the roundpoint of quatre vents bearing left onto the D436 or Route de Melun passing Coutevroult passing over the A4 Autoroute de l’Est continue passing City center Saint Germain sur Morin on rue de Melun dir Meaux passing Quincy Voisins to connect with the A140 autoroute that takes you to City center Meaux our final destination on this route. The pic below was passing by the train station on the Rue de Paris or D934 road

The town belongs to the Val d’Europe Agglomeration which brings together the five historical towns of sector IV of the new town of Marne-la-Vallée as Chessy, Serris, Coupvray, Bailly-Romainvilliers, and Magny-le-Hongre. The towns of Villeneuve-le-Comte and Villeneuve-Saint-Denis were added in 2018. Thereafter, Esbly, Montry and Saint-Germain-sur-Morin joined in 2020, bringing the number of associated towns to ten. The reason writing about this town which took a picture passing is that it was here that my dear late wife Martine took me to see Doctor Paté a homeopathic doctor that took care of her and maternal grandparents for cures, I had strong sinusis and this doctor took care of them ,and never again problems, It brought me many nice memories passing by now,

If coming with more time other monuments to see are the Church Saint Germain de Paris that was rebuilt in the 14C, and frequently restored. From the 12C onwards, two watermills were in operation on the Grand Morin. They can still be seen today: the Moulin Vieux or Old Mill on rue des Prés), and the Moulin Neuf or New Mill on rue du canal.

A bit of history I like tell us that in 1100, Couilly and Saint-Germain-lès-Couilly formed two separate parishes, though they were originally a single village separated by a bridge over the Morin river. The origin of its name comes from the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris ,whose coat of arms the town adopted ,and who owned the land. It was part of the County of Champagne and Brie, and it was only in 1361, under John the Good, that the region was annexed to the French crown. Saint-Germain-les-Couilly has often been invaded or occupied, and its bridge has witnessed the passage of troops crisscrossing eastern Île-de-France such as: Joan of Arc in 1429, the English in 1432, Napoleon I in 1814, the Russians, Bavarians, Austrians, and Prussians in 1814-15, the Germans in 1870 and 1940, and others. During the French revolution, the abbey’s property, the monks’ farm, the Moulin Neuf (New Mill), the Moulin Vieux (Old Mill), and the presbytery was sold as national property. In 1915, the town officially adopted its current name: Saint-Germain-sur-Morin.
