This is Bailly Romainvilliers !!!

This is one of those place that was near where we have gone many times but never stop in City center, and visited the surroundings on my road warrior trails near Disneyland Paris (see posts). I am glad to stop by and will be considered again for our next trip already planned ,,,,. Therefore ,here is my take on this is Bailly Romainvilliers !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I

The town of Bailly-Romainvilliers is located in the Seine-et-Marne department no 77 ,in the Île-de-France region of my belle France. The town is part of sector IV of the new town of Marne-la-Vallée, known as Val d’Europe. The town is located 11 km from Lagny-sur-Marne, 2 km from Serris, 3 km from Magny-le-Hongre, 3 km from Villeneuve-le-Comte, 4 km from Coutevroult, The town is served by the A4 autoroute de l’Est highway, with exit 14 Val d’Europe: Marne-la-Vallée-Val d’Europe, Disneyland Paris, Bailly-Romainvilliers, and the Regional Shopping Centre. This is where we come each time, The town has a secondary road , RD34, a ring road encircling the towns of Val d’Europe. Further, the town is located 65 km from Versailles from where we initially came several years back ; 19 km from Meaux where we have come several times, and 511 km from our current home, where we have come lately (see post),

The town of Bailly-Romainvilliers is made up of two parts. First, the town center, where the City/town hall, schools , the shopping center around the Carrefour supermarket, the Apollonia residence, and a large number of detached houses are located. This area constitutes the former village of Romainvilliers. Further south lies the hamlet ,formerly called Bailly, where the church, the keep, a farm, and a few houses are located.

We came here initially to shop in the Carrefour market for groceries, we got to use the Pharmacie du Golf or pharmacy for misc over the counter medicines, and the bakery artisan or Boulangerie D.Laird for breads and sweets, We did go briefly as my boys went in for some additional groceries to the Auchan hypermarket in the Val d’Europe centre commecial in Serris, which we had shop in years past,

The bit of sad part here is that our beloved dog Rex developed a bit of conjunctivitis on his right eye, We saw a Veto clinic in town, and head for it right away, Thanksfully was nothing major with a bit of ointment twice a day was given and by now much better, This was the Mon Veto Clinique Vétérinaire at 1 Rue Tahuriau right off the other side of the Carrefour market, by Avenue des Golfs turning right onto Rue Tahuriau, Very friendly staff and doctor, Thanks for Rex !

Other things to see here are the Church Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, in old Bailly. The town is only 5 km from the Disneyland Paris resort. This is where we stayed the last few years, The Val d’Europe aquatic center, located in the town , was inaugurated in 2012. Disneyland Golf is situated jointly in the towns of Bailly-Romainvilliers and Magny-le-Hongre. In 2017, Villages Nature Paris,(our first stayed in the area way back), an ecotourism holiday village developed by Pierre & Vacances – Center Parcs and Euro Disney, focused on water-based leisure activities, was inaugurated in the town.

A bit of history tell us that in the mid-12C, a priory was established under the name Bosco (wood), the origin of the village of Bailly. The former parish of Romainvilliers had just transferred its seat to Bailly in the 13C, and the priory of Bois took the name “Baila,” from Late Latin and Provençal, meaning care, guard, or protection. It was “Bailly” that first developed. No document allows us to specify the date of construction of the church erected in Bailly. At the end of the 15C, this building was called Notre-Dame de la Condre. Bailly also boasts and preserves the remains of an old castle built in the 14C, the principal seat of a fairly large seigneury that extended as far as Serris. An elegant 14C castle which, 300 years later, became the property of Admiral Tourville. During the French revolution, the farms and properties belonging to the lords and the Church were sold. The castle was destroyed; only a few vestiges remain along with the Donjon farm, the Valois farm, and the houses of the Hamlet. Until 1864, the seat of the town was in Bailly, where the church, the castle, and the large farms were located. Romainvilliers, then a simple isolated hamlet, nevertheless retains a chapel of devotion to Notre Dame, which was later modified and became a farm called “Saint-Blandin Farm.” Bailly-Romainvilliers has a rather rare and original feature in this respect: all its street names refer to place names and the Brie dialect. In the mid-1980s, the Walt Disney Company sought to expand its operations worldwide, particularly in Europe. With this in mind, the Marne-la-Vallée site, divided into four sectors, offered the advantages of proximity to the Parisian market hub and available land. It was therefore in the heart of Sector IV of Marne-la-Vallée that Disney established itself. In this context, the town of Bailly-Romainvilliers experienced rapid urban and demographic growth.

There you go folks, another dandy spot in my world map, This one is worth the detour for its surroundings a great way to see the overall area of Disneyland Paris and a new spot in my world map.  Again, hope you enjoy this post on this is Bailly Romainvilliers !!! as I.

And remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all !!!
