The Fort de Condé !!!

I like to tell you again about my road warrior trails in my belle France. The village of Chivres-Val is located in the department of Aisne 02 in the Hauts-de-France region. The fort de Condé or fort Pille is a military fortification which is part of the second major fortifications, after that of Vauban, with detached forts, built in France between 1874 and 1885 by the director of engineering, General Séré de Rivières. In 1887, the name of General Louis Antoine Pille was awarded to it.

It is built on the heights of the confluence between the Aisne and Vesle valleys in the villages of Condé-sur-Aisne and Chivres-Val. The fort was built from 1877 to 1882 on a high point between Reims, Soissons and Laon. Covering an area of ​​17 hectares, it can accommodate up to 658 men including 28 non-commissioned officers and 20 officers An infirmary can house 80 patients. The stable is planned for 12 horses; Powder and ammunition stores, a forge, a wood workshop and two wells occupy the other convertible parts

The Germans occupied it in the Nivelle offensive in 1917 during which it was retaken by the French. The Germans seized it again on May 28, 1918 and the French retook it on August 7. After the war, the fort only served as a downgrade center gradually invaded as vegetation and gradually deteriorates. It was bought in 1959 by the village of Chivres-Val and then served as a stone quarry, In 1979, an association for safeguarding the fort was created and began restoration work with the help of local authorities. Since 2000, it has been the property of the community of towns of Val de l’Aisne. The site has been open to the public since 2003.

Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
