Let me tell you about a dandy in my road warrior rounds in the wonderful sublime Loire Valley. This is a spot have come several times to the gorgeous castle, I came by again this week and took nice pictures for you and me. It was a great experience, and always looking forward to be back, eventually, Do read my several posts on the castle and City in my blog, This time let me tell you again on the Château d’Amboise, Tour des Minimes !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Louis-Philippe had the château converted into a holiday resort for the Orléans family, some of whose memorabilia are gathered here. In 1843, the sovereign entrusted his eldest son, Ferdinand-Philippe, with the task of building a panoramic lounge on the roof of the Tour Minimes which adjoins this room.
The Tour des Minimes , one can overlook the Loire from 40 meters above the ground. The panoramic lounge, built there in 1843 (now disappeared), welcomed Prince-President Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte , who came to announce his release to Emir Abd el-Kader on October 16, 1852. The top of this tower was entirely rebuilt at the end of the 19C. A staircase leads down to the ramp of the cavalier tower, built during the reign of Charles VIII. In the Cavalier Ramp ,this helix-shaped ramp ingeniously allowed the horses of the king or the Emperor to reach the terraces of the castle from the city. It was through the other cavalier tower, the Tour Heurtault , that Emperor Charles V made his entrance in December 1539 at the invitation of King Francis I. His stay was marked by an incident; a torch ignited a wall hanging on the passage of the imperial convoy. Having emerged unharmed from the accident, the Emperor continued his journey the next day towards Flanders. At the top of the cavalier ramp, one reaches the galerie d’Aumale gallery. This gallery is named after the 5th son of King Louis-Philippe, the Duke of Aumale , owner of the château from 1895. A soldier and politician, he was also a great patron, behind the largest private collection of ancient books and art in France, now housed at the Château de Chantilly (see posts), under the aegis of the Institut de France (see post). During the Renaissance, this gallery connected the royal residence to the apartments of Henri II and his children , which no longer exist, and which overlooked the gardens. Climb to the roof of the Tour des Minimes to admire the view over the rooftops of Amboise and the Loire, then descend via the bridleway of the Tour des Minimes.
