This is Castelnau de Montmiral !!

I go often to this part of France dear to me and my family, All beautiful countryside full of great architecture and wonderful history, I like to update this older post of family vacations with new text and links for you and me, This is Castelnau de Montmiral in the Tarn dept 81 of the Occitanie region in my belle France . Therefore, here is my take on this is Castelnau de Montmiral !! Hope you enjoy the post as I. The village of Castelnau de Montmiral one of the most beautiful villages of France as saying a lot. A town 32 km from Albi ,46km from Montauban, 76 km from Toulouse, 641 km from Versailles,and 715 km from my current house, We reach it from Toulouse on the A68 highway exit 9 go by Gaillac on the D968 then D964 to destination, Wonderful country ride ! However, we were on our road warrior rides in the area and went around the old ramparts of Castelnau de Montmirail by the D964 coming from Gaillac went into the bastide on ave du 8 mai 1945 to the old castle now a big mansion like place with a great lookout into the valley of Castelnau and took a break. One nice old town to be back to for sure, like i said so much to see it can get overwhelming at times. The numerous stone and half-timbered houses. The Ramparts. The Castle of  Guet destroyed in 1819 which is found on the coat of arms of the village. The Cross Reliquary called Montmiral, executed in 1341 by a goldsmith of Albi and completed by a goldsmith of Toulouse after various efforts.  Several small castles are located in the village such as those of Corduriès, Fézembat, Mazières, and Mayragues. Several underground refuge, and the Forest of Grésigne. A bit of history tell us that this Bastide Albigensian was founded in 1222 by Raymond VII, Count of Toulouse, who gave the Bastide the same franchises as Cordes sur Ciel  and Gaillac.  Its primitive name is Castellum Novum montis Mirabilis which means something like the new castle of mount admirable. The diminutive of Montmiral was commonly used in official acts, including in the 19C in the civil status of the village. This diminutive is still used today by its inhabitants. It was here that the Catholics of Gaillac took refuge after been expelled by the Cathars. Here is a ramparts and hilly streets many with beautiful views over the river Tarn and tributaries . It has been classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France!  La Croix reliquaire des Comtes d’Armagnac is a cross relics that has been displayed in Paris at the Grand Palais, and you can see here at home inside the Church Notre-Dame de l’Assomption. At the end of the 14C, the Bastide was part of the domains of Count Bernard VII of Armagnac in 1470, king Louis XI took the estates of the Count of Armagnac. Georges II de la Trémoille, sire of Craon, Governor of Tours, councillor and first Chamberlain of Louis XI, obtained from the King the lordship of Castelnau-de-Montmiral, Villeneuve and Milhavet. After 1479, Louis I of Amboise, Bishop of Albi, obtained permission from the king to acquire the lordship. Charles I of Armagnac was reinstated in his lordship in 1484. He settled in Castelnau, where he died in 1497. The lordship then enters the realm of the Royal crown. King Louis XIII, returning from the siege of Saint-Antonin, passed in Castelnau-de-Montmiral on June 24, 1622, housed in Tonnac. It is also the place of residence of the famous Privat family. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
