In my nostalgic road warrior saga of my belle France have passed by this area many times and always a treat, always looking forward to be back, eventually, I was on the back roads and came by this little village of La Bouille !! I found me older pictures in my cd rom vault that should be in my blog for you and me, I have my wonderful memories with family visits and even if we are fewer today, the memories lingered forever, I like to tell you about the Church Sainte Marie Madeleine of La Bouille !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The village of La Bouille is located in the department no 76 of Seine-Maritime in the Normandie region of my belle France. It is located on the left bank of the Seine river ,connected by a Sahurs Bac or taxi boat, on the right bank, at the edge of the Londe-Rouvray national forest and at the limit of the Eure department no 27. It is 24 km from Rouen, 54 km from Evreux, 59 km from Honfleur, 122 km from Versailles, and 420 km from my current home, We got here on the D186, then A13 autoroute de Normandie ,dir Rouen to exit/sortie 24 on the D438 ,D132E/D132 to D64 and village,
The smallest Norman village at 1.3 km² for 750 inhabitants, birthplace of Hector Malot, author of the best-seller “Sans Famille” or without family, the La Bouille has always been a source of inspiration for artists, a holiday resort, A promenade destination where Gauguin, Sisley and Turner came to put their easels. However, the main thing to see here is the Church Sainte Madeleine, me think.
The Church Sainte Madeleine ,the old Saint-Christophe Chapel aka La Maison-Brûlée or burning house, This church, in Gothic style, the old chapel is where it is said, Louis IX and Blanche de Castille will have come on pilgrimage. The first stone of the church was laid in 1423. The financial was by the Marquis d’Estampes, lord of the place. But, on the death of the Marquis, in 1425, the church was not completed the , the bell tower was added in 1864.Before the church was adorned with a bell so small that it was worth calling it the Bouille cathedral. The church has three peculiarities: its construction “the feet in the water”, its north-south orientation, the unusual light which falls from the high canopies and which comes to play on the white stone of the columns. There are, in the church, explanatory panels under each stained glass, with information on glassmakers, donors, the date of manufacture, and the themes treated.

The interior of the Church Sainte Madeleine retains its 19C arrangements with its paneling, pulpit and stained glass. Ex-voto recall the devotion of the Seine sailors. Fragments of the original stained glass window of the axis bay remain done from around 1550, another old stained glass occupied a window of the nave. These two windows were restored in 1947, Between 1892 and 1895, the other 15 stained glasses devoted to the life of Christ, the Virgin, Saint Joseph, Clovis, the Visitation were done, The Georgette Jeanne bell, weighs 1.017 kg and has a diameter of 1.24 meters at its base.
