This is La Bouille !!!

In my nostalgic road warrior saga of my belle France have passed by this area many times and always a treat, always looking forward to be back, eventually, I was on the back roads and came by this little village of La Bouille !! I found me older pictures in my cd rom vault that should be in my blog for you and me, I have my wonderful memories with family visits and even if we are fewer today, the memories lingered forever, I like to tell you about this is La Bouille !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The village of La Bouille is located in the department no 76 of Seine-Maritime in the Normandie region of my belle France. It is located on the left bank of the Seine river ,connected by a Sahurs Bac or taxi boat, on the right bank, at the edge of the Londe-Rouvray national forest and at the limit of the Eure department no 27. It is 24 km from Rouen, 54 km from Evreux, 59 km from Honfleur, 122 km from Versailles, and 420 km from my current home, We got here on the D186, then A13 autoroute de Normandie ,dir Rouen to exit/sortie 24 on the D438 ,D132E/D132 to D64 and village.

At Rue du Docteur Magalon see the Maison Louis XI , 14C, Here, on June 7 1467 Louis XI and Queen Charlotte de Savoie welcomed the duke of Warwick, as Ambassador of Édouard IV of England. The interview takes place in this half -timbered house.

Maison d’Hector Malot 18C house in stone and bricks at Quai Hector Malot, Here on May 29, 1830, Hector Malot, author of Sans Famille, was born in this house on the banks of the Seine. The novelist will live in this house until the age of five. The presence of the river, sailboats, the stories of sailors told by his mother, a widow of a long-term captain who died in Santo Domingo, influence his childhood and give him the taste of travel.

The original weather vane of the city hall Rue de la République of La Bouille, recalls the passage of the Vikings on their drakkars. The girouette or weather vane was originally used on Vikings boats. This building originally designed to shelter a city hall, a school of boys, the teacher’s accommodation and a room intended for the shower baths, It does not lack picturesque looks with its roofs, stored tiles, its half-timbered walls and its campanile carrying, at its peak, a Girouette Drakkar.

Other things of note in La Bouille is located on the route of the Pilgrimage of Mont Saint-Michel , on the path coming from Amiens by Rouen and the Roumare forest. La Bouille was liberated by  2ème Corps of the Canadian army on August 27, 1944,A rue de la Bouille is called “Rue des Canadiens”. A square, that of “Place de la Liberation” as well, In the afternoon of August 27, soldiers of the Canadian troops entered the village, occupied by the nazis for 4 years. See the monument to the dead in the cemetery.
