This is Sivry-Courtry !!!

The town of Sivry-Courtry is located in the department no, 77 of Seine-et-Marne in the Île-de-France region of my belle France. It is 8 km from Melun , 55 km from Meaux , 63 km from Versailles, and 479 km from my current home, The town can be reach by the D 605, direction Melun, From Paris, access by the autoroute A5 , sortie/exit no 16, and from Meaux by the D1036 road, I happened to be by here in my road warrior meandering and hit the town for another surprise visit , Let me tell you about this is Sivry-Courtry !!!  Hope you enjoy this post as I.

The Church Saint-Germain is of the 14C, restored in 1640, 1881 and 1983. In sandstone and country stone, built according to a simple rectangular plan, without aisle or transept. Its 22 meters bell tower ends with a square-based blanket with four gables each fitted with a clock, gargoyles and a girouette-fanion. Each gable is also embellished with a clock. On each side of the bell tower, two series of two wooden lampshades and slates return the sound of the bell to the ground. The turned -shaped boat has the distinction of being crossed right through painted wooden beams. Restored in the 20C, they found their original blue color, a color certainly dedicated to Sainte Marie. More modern construction, the south porch is likely to date from the 19C.

Saint Germain is the patron saint of the church of Sivry. Bishop of Auxerre in 418 and delegate of Pope Célestin 1er, Saint Germain is sent to England to fight the doctrine of the monk Pélage, which denied original sin. He participated in the development of the church of Great Britain and consecrates Bishop Saint Patrick, the apostle of the Irish. He died in Ravenne in 448.

Other things to see here, me think are the Château de Courtry Facade from the 18C, other facade of the 16C, Chapelle de Courtry, vestige of the ancient St. Lawrence Church of the 12-13C, Restored in the 17C, The monument to Ernest B. Gaston raised in honor of the American pilot shot down by the nazis entrenched in Bois-Louis on August 26, 1944. Design by the Count Charles de Pange, owner of the Mimouche farm, It represents the American badge symbolizing the propeller and the wings of an airplane.

A bit of history tell us that Courtry was the siege of a lordship, which had in its center the House Forte des Granges, a parish of Milly. It depended on the châtellenie of Melun. The Hundred Years War, however, caused considerable ravages, leaving few vestiges prior to that time. The farms are rebuilt in the square and fortified. Seven operations of this type then exist on the current territory of Sivry-Courtry, During the French revolution, the inhabitants of Courtry actively participated in the patrols sent to fight the counter-revolutionary armies, in particular in Vendée. The town of Courtry-les-Granges was created in 1791 by merger of the parishes of Courtry, Ailly and Milly-les-Granges. In 1842, it was brought together by royal prescription to that of Sivry to form only one, Sivry-Courtry was the scene of many events during WWII, especially at the time of the Liberation. It was also in Sivry that Hyppolite Marinoni , inventor of the offset printing process, spent his childhood.
