I have come back in my road warrior trails of my belle France and Normandy is tops ; see my many posts on it in my blog, I needed to be back and did in grand style me think. Nice experiences which had made us come back again to historically Arromanches les Bains, Therefore, let me tell you about the Musée du Débarquement of Arromanches les Bains !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The village of Arromanches-les-Bains, aka Arromanches, is located in the Calvados department no. 14 in the Normandie region of my belle France. It is 11 km from Bayeux, 29 km from Caen, 261 km from Versailles ,and 313 km from my current home. The town is accessed from Bayeux via the D 516 from where we came, From here we also, went back home.
The Musée du Débarquement located at Place du 6 Juin, 14 Pl. du Six Juin 1944 The Landing Museum commemorates the Normandy landings of June 6, 1944, and more specifically the construction of the artificial harbor at Arromanches and its use during the Battle of Normandy from June to August 1944 to supply Allied troops across the English Channel. The Landing Museum was built at the initiative of Raymond Triboulet and inaugurated on June 5, 1954, by René Coty, President of the Republic. It is the first museum built to commemorate the Normandy landings.

The museum is located on the esplanade bordering the beach opposite which the artificial harbor was built. Large bay windows allow visitors to observe the remains of the artificial harbor. Animated models of the pontoons and floating roads, as well as a diorama, provide an understanding of the construction and operation of the harbor. Various objects, weapons, photos, and uniforms are exhibited in different rooms dedicated to each nation: the British, the Americans, and the Canadians. Animated models of the pontoons and floating roads are also featured, with explanations from a guide and a diorama to help understand how the artificial harbor functions according to the tide. A 30-minute documentary film shot during the preparations for the D-Day landings is shown to conclude the tour.
