Hope you enjoy the post as I. The village of Lupiac is located in the Gers dept no, 32, in the Occitanie region of my belle France. On the historical and cultural level, the village is in the country of Auch, in Gascogne within the vineyard of Saint-Mont, it is the native village of d’Artagnan. It is 24 km from Eauze, 63 km from Tarbes, 66 km from Mont de Marsan, 77 km from Pau, 125 km from Toulouse, 742 km from Versailles, and 655 km from my current house, Passing went by the Hôtel de Ville at the Place d’Artagnan Lupiac la poste c2009 The village of Lupiac is one of the oldest and once fortified, It is the cradle of the most known of the musketeers: d’Artagnan, born in the castle of Castelmore (near Lupiac) and made famous by the masterpiece of Alexandre Dumas (father): The Three Musketeers (1844). The village is located north of Tarbes, in the neighboring department of the Hautes-Pyrénées (no 65), which explains that Alexandre Dumas brought his hero from Tarbes … And our hero, my hero ! Charles de Batz de Castelmore d’Artagnan, 7th child of the Batz Castelmore . The story begins with Lupiac, in his native village, Our hero was born around 1613 He is real and was made famous by the novel and movies, you know their names , Athos, Porthos, Aramis and d’Artagnan. As part of the Years War , we find him in the service of Cardinal Mazarin, who dissolved the company in 1646, In 1661 , Charles De Batz was finally promoted to captain-lieutenant of the musketeers and governor of Lille, In 1667 dArtagnan participated in the arrest of Nicolas Fouquet (vaux le vicomte fame). He lost his life during the dutch war siege of Maastricht in June 1673 during a dutch counterattack. He was killed by a musket bullet in the throat alongside hundreds of his companions , The statue of Artagnan on his rearing horse erected in Lupiac, means that he died in battle, like a hero. D’Artagnan’s burial pace was unknown until recently. French Historian Odile Bordaz speculated that the famous Musketeer could have been buried in the Church of Saint Peter and Paul in Wolder, near Maastricht. He had 2 children with his wife Anne Charlotte Boyer de Chalecy. The first son was called Louis I of Batz-Castelmore died in 1709 took the title of Count d’Artagnan. His second son was named Louis II de Batz Castelmore and died in 1714. Lupiac château de Castelmore birth artagnan c2009 The European Route d’Artagnan trace the roads in the service of King Louis XIV. These are the Madame d’Artagnan , in the footsteps of Madame d’Artagnan. The Road of the Cardinals, in the footsteps of Richelieu and Mazarin. The Roadthe Musketeers, from Gascony to Béarn via Navarre. The Infante Route, to reach Pheasant Island, The Pinerolo Road, to watch over Fouquet arrested by d’Artagnan in Nantes. Some of the things to see here, with more time are : The castle of Castelmore, where D’Artagnan was born is a gentlehome with the body of rectangular main, flanked by round or square towers. Its dependencies and its chapel date from the 16-17C. The Saint-Barthélemy Church dates from 1849. It replaced an older building of which only the Gothic portal remains. The Hospice Saint-Jacques and the Notre-Dame chapel, also known as the Saint-Jacques chapel was founded in 1605 by Charles de Batz, Sir of the Plagne and uncle of the famous musketeer. The hospice, of which the chapel was a part, houses today the Museum of Artagnan as well as the Tourist Office. The museum tells the journay and immerses you in an incredible imagination. To round off this journey, a video room offers a movie of surrounds twenty minutes, drawing a parallel between the romantic situations, the fruit of the inventive spirit of Alexndre Dumas and the reality of the character.
