This is Domrémy la Pucelle !!!

Several years back while visiting my belle France, took a ride into this area. Not aware had some older paper picture in my vault and glad to found them! Not back since but left a nice impression ,and hope to be back, eventually. I like to tell you a bit about this town taking advantage of these much older pictures. Therefore, here is my take on this is Domrémy-la-Pucelle !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I. The town of Domrémy-la-Pucelle is located in the Dept of Vosges No 88 in the Grand Est Region of my belle France, In the old Lorraine region and known as the birthplace of Sainte Jeanne d’Arc. The town is 112 km from Metz, 59 km from Nancy, 78 km from Epinal, 337 km from Versailles, and 767 km from my current house, Passing needed at least a quick look at this house in this town. The maison natale de Jeanne d’Arc or birthplace of Joan of Arc is a medieval 15C house in this family home of the Arc family was born Jeanne d’Arc around 1412; She spent her childhood there and heard the voices there and contemplated her first appearances since 1840 the house is labeled Maisons des Illustres or houses of the illustrious. Originally, the family home was 20 hectares of Jacques d’Arc, a wealthy and notable peasant of the town, and his wife Isabelle Rommée. The father of Jeanne, Jacques d’Arc, also became in 1420 one of the farmers in the domain of the ancient castle of Isle where he settled (castle currently disappeared, the castle of Bourlémont) The current house of about 100 m2, with a floor and attic, has been modified several times during the centuries. Menuau cross window, lean -to roof covered with canal tile etc. Domrémy la Pucelle maison natale jeanne d'arc c2007 In the 15C, during the lifetime of Joan of Arc, the parish was divided into two parts: one depended on the county of Champagne, the other of the Barrois. The young Jeanne d’Arc loved to go to the chapel of Bermont, near Greux, to pray, as to the church of Domrémy where she had received baptism. Her voices, which guided her in her mission and accompanied her in her action, were those of the Saintes Catherine d’Alexandrie, Marguerite d’Antioche and Saint Michel Archangel; For her familiar, even tutelary figures, which contributed to opening the mind of the young teenager to the extraordinary vocation that was hers. Domrémy and Greux, who only made according to Joan of Arc, were exempt from taxes by Charles VII in 1429 after his crowning. Joan of Arc was ennobled. In 1571, the village of Domrémy was officially attached to Lorraine and lost the privilege which was attached to it in the Duchy of Lorraine under the Holy Roman Roman Empire, Domrémy was attached to the kingdom of France almost two centuries later under Louis XV. The parish of Domrémy became in 1578 Domrémy-la-Pucelle. Jeanne d’Arc was born during the Hundred Years War, war of succession which opposes England to France. England is allied with Burgundy, where autonomous French princes reign in search of independence which have acquired by inheritance the territories corresponding to the former Bénélux In order to unify their possessions (Duchy of Burgundy and Burgundian Netherlands), the Dukes of Burgundy have the ambition to annex Lorraine, the Barrois being partly vassal of the King of France. According to the history of France and the history of the Catholic Church, Joan of Arc reports to her judges during her trial for heresy of February 22, 1431, the story of the first call of her voices, which she takes for that of God, at the age of thirteen, at the time of the signing of the Treaty of Troyes of 1420: “And this voice came almost at noon, in summer, in his father’s garden, and said Jeanne had not fasted the previous day. She heard the voice on the right side towards the church.» Jeanne also claims to have seen in appearance and heard at the same age and in the same place the celestial voices of the Saintes Catherine of Alexandria, Marguerite d’Antioche, and the Archangel Saint Michel asking her to be pious, to bring peace to the Kingdom of France by freeing her from her invaders, and to lead the Dauphin of France , Charles VII to the throne by making him crowded King of France by the Catholic Church at Notre-Dame Cathedral at Reims. The house remained the property of the Arc family until the 16C, before being bought in 1586 by Louise de Stainville, countess of Salm. We do not know the names of the tenants and then successive owners , Renowned tourists visited her very early, like philosopher Michel de Montaigne during the year 1580 which mentioned it in his travel journal, On the main facade, above the front door, a niche was fitted out in which a statue of Jeanne d’Arc kneelled, in armor was installed in 1839. It is a cast iron copy of a statue kept at the Johannine interpretation center “faces of Jeanne” This work is a variant of the commemorative statue erected on the Pont d’Orléans in 1562, destroyed in 1793, but known by engraving. Mutilated in the arms and legs, it is the oldest statue of Jeanne d’Arc currently preserved, In 1820, King Louis XVIII finances a monumental monument in the shape of a portico with four pilasters and a pediment of Greek style adorned on a cippe of a bust of Jeanne d’Arc in white marble carved by Jean-François Legendre-Héral; It is close to the house. Other things to see here, me think with more time are the Basilica of Bois-Chenu or Basilica Sainte-Jeanne d’Arc (name of the place where Jeanne heard her voices) The Center Johannine, museum supported on the most recent discoveries of research, documented by many extracts from texts from renowned historians and richly illustrated with reproductions of medieval or more recent works of art, the interpretation center tries to replace the character of Jeanne Arc and its epic in its historical context and, without completely unravel its mystery, to explain it by the study of mentalities and the medieval imagination.
