This is former Fougéres sur Biévre !!

We were on our road warrior mode a while back in the wonderful Loire valley of my belle France. As usual, I passed by Fougères-sur-Bièvre , and needed to stop briefly, to give it my tour of honor, This is off the beaten path and worth the detour, me think, I just touch base , and happy to have found me this older paper picture that needs to be in my blog. For reference, the old town of Fougères-sur-Bièvre  is in dept 41 of the Loir et Cher in the Centre Val de Loire region, Therefore, let me tell you a bit on this is former Fougères-sur-Bièvre !! Hope you enjoy the post as I. The old town of Fougères-sur-Bièvre, (when I passed) has become a delegated town since January 1, 2019 and the administrative merger with the neighboring towns of Contres, Feings, Ouchamps and Thenay to create the new town of Controis-en-Sologne The new town is located 20 km from Blois, 25 km from Romorantin-Lanthenay and 20, km from Montrichard Val de Cher, We were actually driving on the D764 from Blois to Montrichard Val de Cher and saw the panel for this castle, Of course, the road warrior in me and history buff needed to give a quick look, and voilà found the picture and a post. The Château de Fougéres sur Biévre offers an image of a small fortified castle of the Middle Ages, distinguished from the large castles of the Loire by the absence of ostentation, despite the embellishments brought to the Renaissance. The castle is bought and restored by the State in the 1930s. The castle maintains historical and symbolic ties with the legend of Mélusine: Eudes de Déol, descendant of the lords of Fougères, united in 1212 in Agnès de Lusignan whose family claimed to have the ancestor the famous fairy. The winged dragon serpent, which appears on the coat of arms of the Villebresme family, owner of the castle for two centuries, still present in the garden of the castle in the form of a weather vane, is directly associated in the medieval iconography with Mélusine after its metamorphosis. Mélusine, who became a white lady and haunting the castle of her descendants, directly evokes the legend of the white lady of Fougères; This squire remained imprisoned in the dungeon for years, victim of the jealousy of her husband. Its tormented ghost would still haunt the premises. Fougères sur Bièvre château c2005 Other sights to see in this area are the Saint-Éloi Church ,first mention of the church-Ecclesia de Fulgeriis ,date of 1143 in town. Also, the Forest of Cheverny (see posts) , The Château de Contres, Château de la Gondelaine (Contres), Château des Pins (Contres) and the abbey of Cornilly ( Contres). Also the Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte Church (Contres), 15C, the Saint-Pierre Church (Ouchamps, 11C), and the Notre-Dame de Thenay Church (13C). A bit of history of former Fougéres sur Biévre tell us that the lordship of Fougères was mentioned in the year 1030. Its castle was destroyed by the English between 1350 and 1360, during the Hundred Years War. In 1030, the lordship of Fougères belonged to a vassal of the Count of Blois. During the Hundred Years War, the castle fell into the hands of the English who, defeated, abandoned it in 1429 in ruins. It will be rebuilt in several stages from 1465. In 1470, Pierre de Refuge, former adviser to Prince Charles of Orleans and treasurer of King Louis XI, made the castle a real fortress.
