Let me dare take you to a really off the beaten path areas of my former Yvelines dept 78, in my former Île de France region of my belle France, The town was visited for shopping with the family and our idea to always get out of the norm usual neighborhood we lived in Versailles, In passing or stopping by we really like the peaceful life around them, and sadly have only mentioned them very briefly in my blog, Therefore, here is my take on this is Buchelay !! Hope you enjoy the post as I
The town of Buchelay is located only 4 km from Mantes-la-Jolie, which it borders, and about 45 km from Versailles, The neighboring towns are Mantes-la-Jolie, Mantes-la-Ville, Magnanville, Fontenay-Mauvoisin just about 200 meters away !, Jouy-Mauvoisin and Rosny- sur-Seine, The autoroute de Normandie A13 crosses it in the middle in an east-west direction, with the installations of a major toll barrier as well as a half-interchange. The town is served by the local roads D110 which connects it to Bréval to the south-west and which connects to the N13 – A13 link which connects the RN 13 to Val Fourré (Mantes-la-Jolie) as well as the RD 983 to Magnanville.
At Buchelay we came to eat as was close to the A13 autoroute so when traveling west we either had our road lunch as well as when coming back east, It was an easy exit/sortie 13 , Léon de Bruxelles was our stop, We even won a magnum of Gérard Bertrand ! The Léon de Bruxelles, This is a French restaurant chain with branches and franchises. The brand specializes in fresh mussels and fries. In 1893 in Brussels, the “Friture Léon” is a small estaminet dedicated to mussels and typical Belgian dishes. In 1989, the first Leon of Brussels restaurant opened its doors in Paris, and was dedicated to the same traditional dishes. Leon de Bruxelles last count had 83 restaurants in France with 15 tons of mussels delivered each day ! Depending on the season, they come from the Netherlands, Italy or Normandy, It was bought by the Bertrand group in 2019. In 2021, it changed the name to become Léon. Its formula changes in part, The official Léon restaurants on Buchelay: https://brasserie.restaurantleon.fr/fr/mantes-buchelay

Another restaurant we ate passing on the A13 and stopping in Buchelay was
Pizza del Arte pizzeria. In 1983, Louis Le Duff opened the very first Italian Restaurant on the network, at the time under The Lucio brand. In 1984 was purchase by the Accor group, and in 1995 the Le Duff group bought the brand from the Accor group and completely reorganizes its new establishments in order to develop the brand in France. The
Del Arte is modernized and innovates with the opening of a new concept of restaurants, known as “Sabry” and its 3 consumption areas: Ristorant, Cafferitivo and A Casa. Del Arte crossed the 210 restaurants in France. The

A bit of history and things to see me think : The town of Buchelay was separated from Rosny-sur-Seine in 1487, It was the property of several lords, then Savalète bought the lordships in 1720, The lordships were brought together in 1735. Everything was sold to Mr. de Boulongne then to Mr. Morel de Vindé until the French revolution, You can see here the Church Saint Sebastian made of limestone covered with slate, built in the 15C, extensively restored in 1846. Square bell tower with hexagonal spire. Neo-gothic style. The bell was renovated in 2014 and was baptized Irene on April 5, 2014. The 15C church was oriented normally (choir to the east). The one we see is built north south. It is therefore a new construction in the 19C and not just a restoration. The houses of the old center are almost all present on a map from 1732.

My background comes all the way from Candelaria and Pajara in Tenerife, Spain where my grandparents came from ;not knowing each other then, to Punta Brava, west of Havana, Cuba. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers
