Once again looking back into my vault found me older paper pictures that should be in my blog, after all, this is my life’s history ! This is on my road warrior trails in Brussels, Belgium, favorite spot for us, We passed rather quickly but did took a peek and a picture, It is nice to visit but still under renovation est by 2025, Again, I take this opportunity to offer me and you this new post. Therefore, here is my take on the Japanese Tower of Brussels !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I. The Japanese tower, or tour Japonaise is located in Laeken, Brussels, is a fascinating element of Museums of the Far East, on the Japanese art museum. Inaugurated in 1905, the management of this picturesque tower was entrusted in 1921 to the institution of the royal museums of art and history. It houses a rich collection, reflecting the trade supported between Europe and the Far East from the middle of the 16C the middle of the 18C. Decorative objects, especially in porcelain, exposed here were created specifically to respond to European tastes of the time. The construction was an initiative of Leopold II, king of the Belgians, inspired by his visit to the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900. Seduced by the original structure, he decided to recreate a replica in his capital. The work, started in 1901, ended four years later, giving birth to this magnificent replica which continues to attract international visitors. Brussels tour japonaise The Japanese tower is distinguished by its exceptional architecture, inspired by traditional Japanese pagodas. With its five floors decorated with complex artistic details, it represents a harmonious mixture of Japanese and European styles. The exterior of the tower is covered with red lacquer and golden ornaments, creating a striking contrast with the surrounding gardens. The interior, visitors can explore a series of permanent and temporary exhibitions that highlight Japanese art and culture. The collections include pieces of porcelain, traditional kimonos, prints and craft objects. These objects tell the story of cultural and commercial exchanges between Japan and Europe, offering a fascinating overview of the reciprocal influence between these two regions. The gardens surrounding the Japanese tower are also a strong point of the visit. Designed to reflect Japanese aesthetics, they offer a serene space to walk and meditate. The winding trails, peaceful ponds and wooden bridges create an authentic atmosphere that transports visitors to the heart of Japan. You can access it once open again on Avenue Van Praet 44, Laeken , Take the tram 3 or 74 and go down to the “De Wand” stop. The tower is about 5 minutes walk from the stop, Check it out once open schedule somewhere in 2025.
